After so many years of dealing with inflation, economic instability, the change of rules, and exchange traps, to better withstand the depreciation of the local currency, Argentina has historically taken refuge in the US dollar, to a lesser extent in the euro. although the biggest prize is owned by "the green one" as we call the American bill here.

But how do we do when the purchase of currencies is restricted by a stock or directly by an absolute prohibition? We go to a "cave" and do our transactions there. You may have already realized that a cave is nothing more than a parallel exchange house, that is, outside the rules of the financial system where transactions of various types are carried out, including the purchase and sale of foreign currency, there are no restrictions. no limits, you just have to know some and be recommended by someone you trust.

It is, so to speak, the black market of currencies, where you get the so-called “blue” which is nothing other than the dollar whose value is the real market value and is not regulated or imposed by the current monetary authorities.

In recent times, these businesses have been quite inactive, the stable value of the currency promoted by the economic authorities of the state and the few transactions have motivated the owners of these once so lucrative establishments to think about a conversion to continue subsisting. has it occurred to them? purchase and sale of cryptocurrencies, in general, the best known and most popular BTC and ETH, although its main asset is USDT, which is very stable and better represents the dollar.

According to an acquaintance, a member of one of these caves for many years, the current value of the blue dollar is influenced downward by these new operations; Mainly, the Argentine saver repatriates funds that he owns in cryptocurrencies and changes them in the caves in "black", that is, he does not have to deposit the money in a bank as is usual in local traders where it can be bought or sold but always using transfers banking or some other state-controlled system. The commissions that the cryptocurrency holder must pay to convert his assets into pesos is around 5%.

Something very new is taking place in this market that is small but very active and profitable, the caves no longer protect so much in physical dollars but in USDT and other currencies, the commissions are also similar even higher than the traditional dollar transactions, it seems to be that it is a business that has come to stay.

Aquí en mi país tenemos una amplia experiencia en la compra y venta de dólares, somos algo así como los fanáticos número uno de la divisa norteamericana y ese comportamiento bastante atípico en el resto de la región tiene lógica. Luego de tantos años de lidiar contra la inflación, la inestabilidad económica, el cambio de reglas y los cepos cambiarios, para soportar mejor la depreciación de la moneda local, el argentino se ha refugiado históricamente en el dólar estadounidense, en menor medida en el euro aunque el premio mayor lo posee "el verde" como denominamos aquí al billete americano.

¿Pero cómo hacemos cuando la compra de divisas está restringida por un cepo o directamente por una prohibición absoluta? Nos dirigimos a una “cueva” y hacemos nuestras transacciones allí. Ya se habrán dado cuenta que una cueva no es otra cosa que una casa de cambio paralela, es decir fuera de las normas del sistema financiero donde se realizan transacciones de varios tipos, entre ellas la compra-venta de moneda extranjera, allí no hay restricciones ni límites, solo hay que conocer alguna y ser recomendado por alguien de confianza.

Es, por así decirlo, el mercado negro de las divisas, allí se consigue el denominado “blue” que no es otra cosa que el dólar cuyo valor es el real del mercado y no está regulado ni impuesto por las autoridades monetarias de turno.

En los últimos tiempos esos negocios han estado bastante inactivos, el valor estable de la divisa impulsado por las autoridades económicas del estado y las escasas transacciones han motivado que los titulares de esos otrora tan lucrativos establecimientos hayan pensado en una reconversión para seguir subsistiendo, ¿Qué se les ha ocurrido? compra y venta de criptomonedas, en general las más conocidas y populares BTC y ETH aunque su principal activo es el USDT que es muy estable y representa mejor al dólar.

Según un conocido, integrante de una de estas cuevas desde hace muchísimos años, el valor actual del dólar blue está influenciado a la baja por estas nuevas operaciones; principalmente el ahorrista argentino repatría fondos que posee en criptodivisas y los cambia en las cuevas en “negro”, es decir que no tiene que ingresar el dinero en un banco como es habitual en los traders locales donde se puede comprar o vender pero siempre utilizando transferencias bancarias o algún otro sistema controlado por el estado. Las comisiones que el tenedor de criptodivisas deberá abonar para convertir a pesos sus activos ronda el 5%.

Se está produciendo algo muy novedoso en este mercado que es pequeño pero muy activo y rentable, las cuevas ya no resguardan tanto en dólares físicos sino en USDT y otras monedas, las comisiones también son similares incluso superiores a las transacciones del dólar tradicional, parece ser que es un negocio que ha llegado para quedarse.
