A little before the Covid-19 pandemic broke out, I was walking through a gallery in Buenos Aires whose main theme was computing, more than 80% of the commercial premises offered products and services related to hardware and software, the paradise of the nerds called her around here.

The main objective of my visit was, in addition to observing computer equipment and accessories, to pass by the place that had a cryptocurrency ATM, one of the few that exist around here. I was curious to know more "live and direct," as I had read quite a bit about them.

The manager of the premises showed me how it works and we talked at length about the benefits of cryptocurrencies, they were times when BTC was around $ 17,000.

Among the comments he made me, there was one that caught my attention, he had several clients who were going to convert their cryptocurrencies into pesos and then go and bet at the floating casino, the only one enabled in the city by a legal trick of being in waters that do not belong to the urban ejido. At that time I thought it was curious that even the casinos had not implemented some exchange system. Then came the pandemic and lockdown and I forgot about it.

Yesterday, reading news on the subject, I found that there is at least one casino in Las Vegas that is still closed due to the restrictions caused by Covid-19 that has just associated itself with a major cryptocurrency exchange to be able to charge and pay from its wallet. According to the casino and resort authorities, it is one more way to bring functionality and comfort to its passengers and players, relying on modern and innovative technologies.

In a different story, I found another novelty associated with the game, one of the main manufacturers of slot machines has obtained a patent to provide their machines with the possibility of receiving payments in cryptocurrencies.

Until now only some of the web-based virtual casinos had incorporated alternatives to fiat money, especially targeting cryptocurrencies, regarding this modality, we will also say that their activity has grown exponentially in this time of confinement and care.

Real casinos, which annually attract millions of bettors and generate huge profits, are strongly entering the crypto world. I do not have an opinion either for or against it, it is one more of the human activities that begin to enter the crypto world. That alone is already good news.

Un poco antes de que se desatara la pandemia de Covid-19 estaba paseando por una galería de Buenos Aires cuya temática principal era la computación, más del 80% de los locales comerciales ofrecían productos y servicios relacionados con hardware y software, el paraíso de los nerds la llamaban por aquí.

El objetivo principal de mi visita era además de observar equipos de computación y accesorios, pasar por el local que disponía de un cajero automático de criptomonedas, uno de los pocos que existen por aquí. Tenía curiosidad por saber más “en vivo y directo,” ya que había leído bastante sobre ellos.

El encargado del local me mostró su funcionamiento y conversamos largamente sobre las bondades de las criptomonedas, eran tiempos donde el BTC rondaba los 17.000 dólares.

Entre los comentarios que me hizo hubo uno que llamó mi atención, tenía varios clientes que iban a convertir sus criptomonedas en pesos para luego ir a apostar al casino flotante, el único habilitado en la ciudad por una argucia legal de estar en aguas que no pertenecen al ejido urbano. En ese momento pensé que era curioso que aun los casinos no hubieran implementado algún sistema de cambio. Luego vino la pandemia y el confinamiento y olvidé el tema.

En el día de ayer leyendo noticias sobre la temática encuentro que al menos hay un casino en Las Vegas que aun está cerrado por las restricciones provocadas por el Covid-19 que acaba de asociarse a un importante exchange de criptomonedas para poder cobrar y pagar desde su billetera. Según las autoridades casino y resort es una forma más de acercar funcionalidad y comodidad a sus pasajeros y jugadores apoyándose en tecnologías modernas e innovadoras.

En una noticia diferente encontré otra novedad asociada al juego, uno de los principales fabricantes de máquinas tragamonedas ha obtenido una patente para dotar a sus máquinas de la posibilidad de recibir pagos en criptomonedas.

Hasta ahora solo algunos de los casinos virtuales basados en web habían incorporado alternativas al dinero fiat, especialmente apuntando a las criptomonedas, a propósito de esta modalidad, también diremos que su actividad ha crecido exponencialmente en este tiempo de encierro y cuidados.

Ahora los casinos reales, que atraen anualmente a millones de apostadores y generan ingentes ganancias, ingresan fuertemente al mundo cripto. No tengo una opinión ni a favor ni en contra, es una más de las actividades humanas que comienzan a adentrarse al mundo cripto. Eso solo ya es una buena noticia.
