In the year that has just ended, various market studies mentioned that there is a significant demand from cryptocurrency holders for businesses to accept their tokens for the acquisition of goods and services, however, these are still scarce.

However, a recent Visa survey indicates that almost 25% of small and medium-sized businesses are thinking of accepting payments with cryptocurrencies, so consumer pressure seems to be having an effect.

In the same survey, it is mentioned that merchants have begun to understand the mechanics of the crypto world and believe that accepting new forms of payment will be essential for the growth of their businesses in this coming year.

In the same survey, a section was included where more than 1,500 adult consumers were consulted, in it the predisposition to dispense with cash is noted and more than half of the respondents believe that in 10 years cash will be history. Another important fact has been the discovery that more than 40% of consumers surveyed have abandoned those businesses that do not accept payment through digital means.

Here in my country, I have put into practice a long time ago fact of not buying in stores that do not accept digital payments, I prefer not to buy in stores where they do not accept at least debit cards; it is typical of Latin America that there are still many businesses that prefer informality and tax evasion, with the payment only in cash that is possible since not all buyers ask for the invoice or ticket and even if they ask for them, there are double accounting systems that They hide a good part of the sales.

But not only small and medium-sized merchants are beginning to sympathize with cryptocurrency payments, but also some large companies have already taken their first steps in this direction, of course, we cannot fail to mention Tesla, a pioneer in the acceptance of cryptocurrencies, but there are other big companies that are going in that direction, Airbnb is one of them.

En la misma encuesta se menciona que los comerciantes han comenzado a entender la mecánica de funcionamiento del mundo criptográfico y creen que aceptar nuevas formas de pago será fundamental para el crecimiento de sus negocios en este año que comienza.

Otro dato importante ha sido el de descubrir que más del 40% de los consumidores encuestados ha abandonado a aquellos comercios que no aceptan el pago mediante medios digitales.

Aquí en mi país he puesto en práctica hace mucho tiempo el hecho de no comprar en comercios que no acepten pagos digitales, prefiero no comprar en comercios donde no acepten al menos la tarjeta de débito; es típico de Latinoamérica que todavía haya muchos comercios que prefieren la informalidad y la evasión impositiva, con el cobro solo en efectivo eso se hace posible ya que no todos los compradores piden la factura o ticket y aunque los pidan, existen sistemas de doble contabilidad que ocultan buena parte de las ventas.

Pero no solo los pequeños y medianos comerciantes están comenzando a ver con simpatía el cobro con criptomonedas, también algunas grandes empresas ya han dado sus primeros pasos en esa dirección, por supuesto no podemos dejar de mencionar a Tesla, pionera en la aceptación de criptomonedas, pero hay otras grandes compañías que están yendo en esa dirección, Airbnb es una de ellas.
