Fear and greed - Miedo y codicia

In this time of uncertainty regarding the value of cryptocurrencies, we have statements and predictions of all kinds; I commented on some of them in my post yesterday.

While many of us expect a rebound in the price of bitcoin that returns it to more inspiring values, we look for signs that indicate that this will occur with a certain degree of certainty.

Some have seen in their feverish studies that this moment is very similar to that of September of the previous year when the price fell to 40K (something similar to what happens today) and then began a race that took it to + 67K.

However, there is an index with a strange and even almost cute name called the "Crypto Index of Fear and Greed" developed by alternative.me that, unlike last year when it hit an extraordinary 93/100, today it is tumbling around 20/100. What does that mean? That fear is beating greed and everything is unstable, no one is playing and the value of crypto assets come and go, although always in a bearish tone.

I did not find the formula or a detailed explanation of how this index is formed, on the company's page it only says day by day they analyze emotions and feelings from different sources and reflect it in that number.

It is a somewhat vague explanation, although fear and greed are known and dominant factors in various aspects of human life, reflected in an index that makes them seem more relevant.

Common people who do not know these avatars tend to cling to anything that gives them hope, like a wood in the middle of the ocean, while the waves churn the sea and sharks lurk.

Mientras muchos esperamos un rebote en el precio del bitcoin que lo vuelva a valores más inspiradores, buscamos señales que nos indiquen que eso se producirá con cierto grado de certeza.

Algunos han visto en sus febriles estudios que este momento es muy similar al de setiembre del año anterior, cuando el precio bajó hasta los 40K (algo parecido a lo que ocurre hoy) para luego comenzar una carrera que lo llevo a +67K.

Sin embargo, hay un índice de nombre raro y hasta casi simpático denominado “Crypto fear & greed index” desarrollado por alternative.me que a diferencia del año pasado cuando llegó a un extraordinario 93/100, hoy en día se encuentra dando tumbos alrededor del 20/100. ¿Qué significa eso? Que el miedo le está dando una paliza a la codicia y todo es inestable, nadie se juega y el valor de los activos cripto van y vienen, aunque siempre en un tono bajista.

No encontré la fórmula ni una explicación detallada de como se forma esté índice, en la página de la compañía solo dice día a día ellos analizan emociones y sentimientos desde diferentes fuentes y lo plasman en ese número.

Es una explicación algo vaga, aunque el miedo y la codicia son factores conocidos y dominantes en varios aspectos de la vida humana, plasmados en un índice los hace parecer más relevantes.

La gente común que no conoce estos avatares suele aferrarse a cualquier cosa que les de esperanzas, como una madera en medio del océano, mientras las olas agitan el mar y los tiburones acechan.
