A phrase that I have heard on several occasions says that the world is full of fools with money willing to hand it over easily, you just have to be there and take it.

While it is true that there are many rich people who have money to spare, it is also very true that they are a minority in a world that day after day generates more poverty and the gap between those who have and those who do not widen without a solution. continuity.

Lately, I have read that a couple of ventures on virtual cities have come to light, something similar to the virtual reality project "Second life" developed by the company Xrspace that came to light at the dawn of 2020. Second life was neither more nor less than a game supported by 3D technology where each participant could create their own avatar, create or make friends and interact socially. The big difference with these new projects is that they are based on blockchain and have given them a higher significance: the virtual city is divided into plots that are sold and an NFT gives the security of purchase and real and exclusive ownership.

Companies like Somniun Space and Decentraland have announced millionaire sales of plots in their virtual cities, places where obviously you will never be able to live physically but Yes through virtual interfaces. Incredibly there have been and surely will continue to be people who buy for thousands and even millions of dollars those properties that only exist in a fantasy world thanks to current technology.

To explain this phenomenon, which according to data from the companies themselves, is a business that has been growing, it is compared to the purchase of domain names for websites, a virtual asset that is supposed to be an investment in the future. In the same way, an analogy can be made with the purchase of a painting or more recently a tweet or a virtual card of the favorite NBA player.

What seems certain is that the pioneer in this virtual city, Second Life, arrived too early on the scene and others have taken advantage of the idea to turn it into something profitable.

Returning to the subject of the title, it is true that there are many people who have money, most of them have it due to their skills and nose for business so I do not believe in that of fools with money. An investor in these issues of virtual cities has mentioned that he bought several lots for a certain value a few months ago and a few days ago only selling a quarter of what he bought he recovered the investment and has gone on to make a profit.

"Fools are those who do stupid things" says Forrest Gump.
