Today we went for a walk to a rural town converted into a gastronomic one, something quite common in these times in my country. In the 1990s, the president of that time came up with the idea of closing many (when I say many is really an enormous amount) stations and branches of the railroad, at one time we had a network that was the pride of the whole country and the main one of Latin America, but shady deals and low profitability led to the red pencil being grabbed and roads and stations crossed out across the country. Unfortunately, the rural towns whose only means of communication, transport, and commerce with the big cities was the railroad, began to slowly die.

About a decade ago, some people came up with the idea of opening restaurants in several of these towns, taking advantage of the proximity to the Federal Capital and the excellent meat that those areas enjoy. Magically several began to resurface when families from the big city began to visit them to perform the favorite sport of Argentines: eating. What is known as gastronomic tourism was formed and with good publicity and some inventiveness they added craft fairs, museums, walks, and slowly they were recovering certain economic stability.

Returning to the walk, in the car were my wife, a friend of hers, my eldest daughter, her husband and me. Lucas, my son-in-law, told me that in the bank where his mother has an important managerial position, they had discovered a robbery that was not carried out by professional thieves but by some opportunists who had discovered a mechanical failure in the ATMs and withdrew money without the withdrawal remaining registered in the account balances, Oddly enough, the anti-type robbery had produced embezzlement of several million from the coffers of the aforementioned bank.

I immediately remembered a hack that occurred a few days ago on the decentralized finance platform Cream Finance and it is not the first time it has happened but the second. Of course, many detractors of cryptocurrencies tear their clothes shouting at whoever wants to listen: "We told you, cryptocurrencies are, among other things, unsafe because they are exposed to the activity of hackers."

I do not know why, but thefts and hacks are found daily and not only among cryptocurrencies, there are many examples of robberies from banks, from customer accounts from which values are taken away so small that most do not even realize it but that in the lump sum is a considerable amount. I have known a person who worked in the same bank as me and was destined for the treasury, they discovered him removing bills from bundles with a hairpin, the kind that women use to hold it. After all, the banknote thief was a forerunner of hackers.

Of course, speeches and not just those of politicians have tendencies to tell only one truth that may not be the whole truth. My grandmother used to say "bring water to her mill."

Someday I will have to get seriously to write down all the sayings of the grandmother, maybe she can edit a book and make some money, always trying to keep it away from thieves, hackers and other herbs.
