Hit the NFTs - Golpe a los NFT

A few days ago I published information about the NFT (non-fungible tokens), there is said that it was a new utility of cryptographic tokens whose main purpose was given in the acquisition and possession of digital artworks, the token ensured the legitimacy and ownership of the same by the acquirer. Today, unfortunately, I must mention that NFTs have suffered a serious blow to their credibility due to the hack suffered by Nifty Gateway a platform that has specialized in buying and selling these tokens. As of now, it has the dubious title of owning the first digital art thefts in its short history. The affected users have mentioned the loss of thousands of dollars under two different types of operations, one with the purchase from their bank cards without authorization and the other direction the theft of digital works of art, even a list with the works circulates in these media stolen.

Early research points to the lack of two-step verification of hacked users (by now that should be decidedly mandatory to operate). As has been established, Nifty Gateway allows its users to acquire NFTs through the use of credit cards and not only with cryptocurrencies as occurs with other similar platforms, from there hackers have entered to carry out these illicit operations.

NFTs have become fashionable lately and their use in the acquisition and sale of digital works of art is taking a decidedly increasing direction, the sale of the first tweet in history by Jack Dorsey or the work of the digital artist Beeple by 69 million dollars took the first steps in that direction. Very recently another very famous auction house, Sotheby’s, has confirmed its approach to the world of NFTs by announcing the auction of its first work of digital art with this methodology.

Also, the most famous and enthusiastic of social networks, Elon Musk has announced the sale of a song of his authorship precisely about the NFTs through this modality, according to what is said, he has received offers for more than a million dollars and even Beeple himself is promoting on the birding network.

Hopefully, this failure on security is only a temporary problem and solvable in the short term, surely the NFTs are here to stay and also to give a huge boost to art and digital artists.

Pocos días atrás publiqué información sobre los NFT (non fungible tokens), allí decía que era una nueva utilidad de los tokens criptográficos cuya finalidad principal estaba dada en la adquisición y tenencia de obras de arte digital, el token aseguraba la legitimidad y propiedad de las mismas por parte del adquirente. Hoy lamentablemente debo mencionar que los NFT han sufrido un duro golpe a su credibilidad debido al hackeo sufrido por Nifty Gateway una plataforma que se ha especializado en la compra y venta de estos tokens. A partir de ahora tiene el dudoso título de poseer los primeros robos de arte digital en su corta historia. Los usuarios damnificados han mencionado la pérdida de miles de dólares bajo dos tipos diferentes de operaciones, una con la compra desde sus tarjetas bancarias sin autorización y la otra directamente el robo de obras de arte digital, incluso circula en esos medios un listado con las obras sustraídas.

Las primeras investigaciones apuntan a la falta de la verificación de dos pasos de los usuarios hackeados (a estas alturas eso debería ser decididamente obligatorio para operar). Según se ha establecido, Nifty Gateway permite a sus usuarios adquirir NFT’s mediante el uso de tarjetas de crédito y no solamente con criptomonedas como ocurre con otras plataformas similares, desde allí han ingresado los hackers para realizar estas operaciones ilícitas.

Los NFT se han puesto de moda últimamente y su utilización en la adquisición y venta de obras de arte digital están tomando una dirección decididamente creciente, la venta del primer tweet de la historia por parte de Jack Dorsey o la obra del artista digital Beeple por 69 millones de dólares dieron los primeros pasos en ese sentido. Muy recientemente otra casa de subastas muy famosa, Sotheby’s, ha confirmado su acercamiento al mundo de los NFT anunciado la subasta de su primera obra de arte digital con esta metodología.

También el más famoso y entusiasta de las redes sociales, Elon Musk ha anunciado la venta de una canción de su autoría justamente sobre los NFT mediante esa modalidad, según se comenta ha recibido ofertas por más de un millón de dólares y hasta el propio Beeple lo está promocionando en la red del pajarito.

Esperemos que este fallido sobre la seguridad sea solo un problema pasajero y solucionable en el corto plazo, seguramente los NFT han llegado para quedarse y también para darle un impulso enorme al arte y a los artistas digitales.
