Recalculating - Recalculando

In September of the year that has just ended, I lent a friend 600 Hive, transferring them to his account, it was the equivalent of about US $ 100 at the current price. The main objective was focused on helping him to start in this community, that his vote was worth something and that he raised by curation, additionally, it was up to his decision to start his blog and publish his own things, he has several interesting topics to write about and I am convinced that it would be well received.

Almost 4 months later I still have not managed to publish anything, it is not encouraged. But that is not the subject that brings me here and now but the value of the Hive.

Looking at him dispassionately and just looking at the value of his current account he has lost almost $ 28 and that amount includes that his balance in Hive has increased by 8% due to the healing rewards he has been making.

Just out of curiosity I looked for the purchase transaction of the 600 Hive in the Exchange where I made it and it cost me at that time the equivalent of 0.009204 BTC (including the commission), the value of the BTC at that time was US $ 11,100, dollar more dollar less. It is observed absolutely dramatic if we carry out the calculation to determine how many dollars that 0.00904 BTC are equivalent to, just as an anecdote we will say that at today's price it would be approximately US $ 300. Therefore, more than 2 / 3 parts of the initial loan. If I had stayed with BTC today I probably wouldn't be writing this.

However, from bad experiences, something good always comes out and in this case it is a reflection on the Hive ecosystem: we are not obtaining the results that we all expected and it is absolutely necessary to rethink objectives and expectations.

In principle I will say that in my opinion you need a stable currency or at least know its demand in advance; Of course, these 10 years since the creation of BTC have taught us that cryptocurrencies fluctuate, probably too much for my liking; They are more vulnerable to speculation and that makes the behavior of users unpredictable, in the case of the Hive, for now, we only have one certainty: the value of the currency falls without a continuity solution. It is very little use to acquire goods and services and its exchange for stronger ones or simply for FLAT money is the usual thing.

In theory, the postulates of this ecosystem are based on cooperation and mutual benefit, that is, changing the equation of competition for that of co-participation and support among the entire community. However, there are some things that are not working as intended. Voting and comments, which are the most common way to grow simultaneously, do not work. There are some problems, the main one being that the vast majority of the people who make up the Hive community need their coins to live, therefore the HP, which is one of the pillars of cooperation, is diluted. The only ones who can maintain and increase their HP are those who use the platform as an investment and despite some efforts and ideas the ability to help is mainly limited to those who may not need it but who pay back the investment of the cure. Of course, that is not bad but it does not produce the expected spill effect. I doubt that those who invest in the platform have not realized that their profits and investment returns decrease dramatically over time.

I am not an expert in finance nor in the paradigm of blockchain and cryptocurrencies, I do not currently have any logical or magic solution I only give my opinion based on what I observe and I deeply regret having this vision at this time.

So, for those who created or who assumed the responsibility of managing the community, it is time to do something different because when those investors who still continue to support see that the equation no longer suits them, they will accompany us to the cemetery gate but they will not enter.

En setiembre del año que recién termina le presté a un amigo 600 Hive transfiriéndolos a su cuenta, era el equivalente a unos U$S 100 a la cotización de aquel momento. El objetivo primordial estaba centrado en ayudarlo a comenzar en esta comunidad, que su voto valiera algo y que recaudara por curación, adicionalmente quedaba en su decisión comenzar su blog y publicar sus propias cosas, tiene varios temas interesantes sobre los que escribir y estoy convencido que tendría buena acogida.

Casi 4 meses después todavía no he logrado que publicara nada, no se anima. Pero eso no es el tema que me trae aquí y ahora sino el valor del Hive.

Mirándolo desapasionadamente y solo observando el valor de su cuenta actual ha perdido casi U$S 28 y ese importe incluye que su saldo en Hive se ha incrementado en un 8% debido a las recompensas de curación que ha ido realizando.

Solo por curiosidad busqué la transacción de compra de los 600 Hive en el Exchange donde la efectué y me costó en ese momento el equivalente a 0.009204 BTC (incluyendo la comisión), el valor del BTC por aquel entonces era de U$S 11,100, dólar más dólar menos. Se observa absolutamente dramático si realizamos el cálculo para determinar a cuantos dólares equivalen esos 0.00904 BTC, solo como anécdota diremos que a la cotización del día de hoy serían aproximadamente U$S 300. Por lo tanto se ha perdido en dólares más de las 2/3 partes del préstamo inicial. Si me hubiera quedado con los BTC hoy probablemente no estaría escribiendo esto.

Sin embargo de las malas experiencias siempre se saca algo bueno y en este caso es una reflexión sobre el ecosistema de Hive: no estamos obteniendo los resultados que todos esperábamos y es absolutamente necesario replantear objetivos y expectativas.

En principio diré que según mi opinión se necesita una moneda estable o al menos conocer su demanda con antelación; por supuesto que estos 10 años desde la creación del BTC nos ha enseñado que las cryptomonedas fluctúan, probablemente demasiado para mi gusto; son más vulnerables a la especulación y eso hace que el comportamiento de los usuarios sea poco previsible, en el caso del Hive por ahora solo tenemos una certeza: el valor de la moneda baja sin solución de continuidad. Es muy poco utilizable para adquirir bienes y servicios y su cambio por otras más fuertes o sencillamente por dinero FLAT es lo habitual.

En teoría los postulados de este ecosistema están basado en la cooperación y el beneficio mutuo, es decir cambiar la ecuación de la competencia por el de la coparticipación y el apoyo entre toda la comunidad. Sin embargo hay algunas cosas que no están funcionando como se pensó. El voto y los comentarios, que son la manera más común de crecer en simultáneo no funcionan. Hay algunos problemas, el principal está dado en que la gran mayoría de las personas que integran la comunidad de Hive necesitan sus monedas para vivir por lo tanto el HP que es uno de los pilares de la cooperación se diluye. Los únicos que pueden mantener e incrementar su HP son aquellos que utilizan la plataforma como inversión y pese a algunos esfuerzos e ideas la capacidad de ayuda se limita principalmente a aquellos que quizás no lo necesiten pero que devuelven con creces la inversión de la curación. Por supuesto que eso no está mal pero no produce el efecto de derrame esperado. Dudo que aquellos que invierten en la plataforma no se hayan dado cuenta que sus beneficios y retornos de inversión disminuyen dramáticamente a lo largo del tiempo.

No soy un experto en finanzas ni tampoco en el paradigma de las blockchain y las cryptomonedas, no tengo actualmente ninguna solución lógica o mágica solo doy mi opinión basada en lo que observo y lamento profundamente tener esta visión en estos momentos.

Entonces, para aquellos que crearon o que asumieron la responsabilidad de administrar la comunidad es hora de hacer algo distinto porque cuando esos inversores que aún continúan apoyando vean que la ecuación ya no les conviene nos acompañarán hasta la puerta del cementerio pero no entrarán.
