I honestly don't know if the expression “doesn't eat glass” has the same meaning in English as it does in Spanish, more precisely what the concept of the phrase indicates here in my country. Basically, it means that the person (in this case the organization) included in the phrase is not stupid and is not easily fooled.

That said, the title has the meaning I want to give it.

The United Nations Organization, the largest existing international organization that brings together all the countries of our planet, periodically holds different workshops within the territory of one of its member countries. At the beginning of this month, the regional electric mobility workshop was held in Argentina, with the participation of officials from 14 states, and information tasks were carried out on the progress that each of the countries in the region has been developing on the transition in electric mobility.

As is customary in the organization, a few days before the event, it sent the participants a document explaining the operation of the workshop and other issues related to advice and suggestions for better development in the host country, for example, transportation and security.

On this occasion, everyone was surprised by a specific piece of advice on personal finances and expenses borne by the organization, suggesting that participants carry dollars and change them in the informal market that is called “blue” here. He even went so far as to suggest a place (which we call a “cave”) were to carry out the transaction safely, mentioning that it could be contacted by WhatsApp and they would take the corresponding amount in Argentine pesos to the place that the official indicated.

I have already commented on several occasions that here in my country, due to the restrictions defined by verification and control agencies such as the Central Bank (BCRA) and the Financial Information Unit (UIF), the free acquisition of foreign currency is restricted to a minimum amount. per inhabitant, due to this and other factors that are not relevant to detail, there is an informal market (blue) where the North American currency or any other, is bought and sold at a value that almost doubles the official one.

For this reason, anyone who comes from abroad should bring dollars in cash and change them in one of those caves. The document also warns that any purchase made with credit cards will be converted to the official value, so it is also a good option, although it clarifies that some businesses do not accept international cards issued abroad, I do not know the exact cause, but I suspect which is due to the crediting time where high inflation threatens the recovery of the amount out of time.

I have no doubt that this type of recommendation should be frequent, it is logical that they do not want to squander the funds that ultimately belong to all the inhabitants of the world, what is not explained is why they exhaustively include these suggestions in an official document.

In case the international organization does not know, the parallel market is illegal in the country.

Sinceramente no sé si la expresión “no come vidrio” tiene el mismo significado en inglés que en español, más precisamente lo que el concepto de la frase indica aquí en mi país. Básicamente quiere decir que la persona (en este caso la organización) incluida en la frase no es tonta y no se deja engañar fácilmente.

Dicho esto, el título tiene el significado que quiero darle.

La Organización de Naciones Unidas, la más grande organización internacional existente que nuclea a todos los países de nuestro planeta, realiza periódicamente diferentes talleres dentro del territorio de alguno de sus países miembros. A principios del mes en curos se realizó el taller regional de movilidad eléctrica en la Argentina, en el mismo participaron funcionarios de 14 estados y se llevaron a cabo tareas de información sobre los avances que cada uno de los países de la región vienen desarrollando sobre la transición en la movilidad eléctrica.

Como es costumbre en el organismo, unos días antes del evento envió a los participantes un documento donde se explica el funcionamiento del taller y otras cuestiones relacionadas con consejos y sugerencias para un mejor desenvolvimiento en el país anfitrión, por ejemplo, transporte t seguridad.

En esta ocasión sorprendió a todos un consejo específico sobre finanzas personales y gastos a cargo del organismo, se sugería a los participantes llevar dólares y cambiarlos en el mercado informal que aquí se le llama “blue”. Inclusive llegó al punto de sugerir un lugar (al que llamamos “cueva”) donde realizar la transacción con seguridad, mencionaba que se podía contactar por WhatsApp y le llevaban el importe correspondiente en pesos argentinos al lugar que el funcionario indicara.

Ya comenté en varias ocasiones que aquí en mi país debido a las restricciones definidas por los organismos de verificación y control como el Banco Central (BCRA) y la Unidad de Información Financiera (UIF), la libre adquisición de divisas está restringida a una mínima cantidad por habitante, debido a ello y a otros factores que no vienen al caso detallar, existe un mercado informal (blue) donde la divisa norteamericana o cualquier otra, se compra y vende a un valor que casi duplica el oficial.

Por esa causa, a cualquier persona que venga del exterior le conviene traer dólares en efectivo y cambiarlos en una de esas cuevas. El documento también avisa que cualquier compra que se realice con tarjetas de crédito, será convertida al valor oficial por lo que también es una buena opción, aunque aclara que algunos comercios no aceptan tarjetas internacionales emitidas en el exterior, ignoro la causa exacta, pero sospecho que es por el tiempo de acreditación donde la alta inflación atenta contra la recuperación del importe fuera de tiempo.

No me caben dudas que ese tipo de recomendaciones deben ser frecuentes, es lógico que no se quieran dilapidar los fondos que en definitiva son de todos los habitantes del mundo, lo que no se explica es porqué incluyen taxativamente esas sugerencias en un documento oficial.

Por si el organismo internacional no lo sabe, el mercado paralelo es ilegal en el país.
