On September 12, the elections called PASO (open, simultaneous, and compulsory primaries) were held in Argentina; They were created so that political parties can elect their candidates before the mid-term generals where half of the deputies and 1/3 of the country's senators are elected. This means that in reality, the result of the PASO has no direct relationship with the midterm elections that always take place two months after the primaries, but they are taken as a general survey. In this context, the ruling party had a hard and unexpected defeat (for them) that caused an institutional crisis of uncertain consequences, there were accusations between the president and his vice president, there were resignations of ministers and changes in the cabinet.

Although the list of things they did wrong is enormous, the government is convinced that putting money in people's pockets can reverse that result, therefore, the president this past Friday signed a decree authorizing the issuance of 422 billion pesos, which is equivalent to about 2.28 billion dollars at the current exchange rate. This is added to a monetary issue that was already very strong before the elections.

Of course, this issue does not have any backing and the warning of all the serious economists of the country predict higher inflation, trade deficit, and shortages of foreign exchange. An extremely explosive cocktail that will most likely explode the government itself in the two years of its mandate that remain. "Fuel for inflation" says economists, but the government does not care about that today, only to recover votes, total short-termism.

Due to this, several friends and acquaintances have asked me about stablecoins, if Argentina is among the first countries in the world ranking in the adoption of cryptocurrencies, this government decision will accelerate that characteristic. We cannot buy dollars in the formal market and therefore stablecoins are presented as a more than acceptable option and even necessary to save the value of our savings that day by day is eaten away by the scourge of inflation.

I do not know if some of that "money in the pockets of the people" that the government is going to give away through various mechanisms will touch me, I doubt it because I have a formal job and luckily quite well paid within the current price and wage imbalance That money will go to the poorest and to those whose vote can be bought. But if I get to touch something or everything that can be discounted the fixed expenses of the month, they will go to cryptocurrencies.

A phrase is circulating everywhere that exemplifies the lack of judgment of our current rulers: "To think that printing money ends poverty is like thinking that printing diplomas end ignorance."
