Welcome back LUNAtics Loopers, I return to talk about one of the most hot blockchains in this period: Terra. Following the upgrade to Terra mainnet, Columbus-5, the LUNA holders voted in favor of the adoption of the IBC protocol (Inter-blockchain Communication), which allows Terra network to communicate with all the blockchains that have adopted this communication system between networks. This implementation allows users to transfer and exchange tokens belonging to Terra ecosystem with tokens from other networks, as well as providing liquidity in all DEXs compatible with the IBC protocol.

For example, one of the most important decentralized exchanges on the Cosmos network, Osmosis, has recently added a Liquidity Pool relating to the LUNA/OSMO pair. On the same DEX you will also find a pool with the main stablecoin of the Terra system, UST. The mechanism for withdrawing and depositing on a decentralized exchange that supports the IBC protocol is very simple. Let's take Osmosis as an example:

  • In the "Assets" section of the DEX (to which you will need to connect with a compatible wallet such as Keplr) you will find all the supported currencies with their deposit address;

  • If you already have LUNA or UST and want to participate in the present LPs or simply exchange these tokens with others in the DEX, just deposit the funds on the address provided. Once received, you can dispose of them as you wish;

  • If, on the other hand, you are a user of the Cosmos network and want to take advantage of the protocol implementation to buy some LUNA, just do it in the "Trade" section. Once you have purchased LUNA or UST (with your ATOM, OSMO, CRO or one of the many currencies present), tokens will be deposited on your Keplr internal wallet, and therefore always visible in the "Asset" section of the DEX. If you want to withdraw them on other wallets like Terra Station, all you have to do is select Withdraw and enter the destination address.

Actually, holding LUNAs staked with one of the validators on Terra Station also has many advantages. In addition to receiving rewards deriving from fees, delegators can receive airdrops from new projects that are emerging on the network (and LOOP is an example) and take part in governance by voting on proposed changes to the blockchain. Whether it is more convenient to stake LUNAs or move them to other networks, such as Cosmos, I leave it up to you to decide. With the introduction of the IBC protocol, the main stablecoin of Terra (UST) is becoming more and more requested in the DeFi universe and, given that it is LUNA that guarantees the anchoring of UST to the dollar with a burning mechanism (to create 1UST you have to burn the equivalent of $1 in LUNA), the price of the governance token of Terra could skyrocket!

A seguito dell’upgrade alla mainnet di Terra (Columbus-5) gli holders di LUNA hanno espresso voto favorevole all’adozione del protocollo IBC (Inter-blockchain Communication), che permette al network Terra di comunicare con tutte le blockchain che hanno adottato questo sistema di comunicazione tra reti. Questa implementazione consente agli utenti di trasferire e scambiare* i token appartenenti all’ecosistema Terra con token di altre reti, oltre a permettere di aggiungere liquidità in tutti i DEX compatibili con il protocollo IBC.

Ad esempio, uno dei piĂą importanti exchange decentralizzati su rete Cosmos, Osmosis, ha recentemente inserito una Liquidity Pool relativa alla coppia LUNA/OSMO. Sempre sullo stesso DEX troverete anche una pool con la principale stablecoin del sistema Terra, UST.
Il meccanismo per il prelievo e deposito su un exchange decentralizzato che supporta il protocollo IBC è molto semplice. Prendiamo ad esempio sempre Osmosis:

  • Nella sezione “Assets” del DEX (al quale dovrete connettervi con un wallet compatibile come Keplr) troverete tutte le valute supportate con relativo indirizzo di deposito;
  • Se avete giĂ  dei LUNA o UST e volete partecipare alle LP presenti o semplicemente scambiare questi token con altri presenti nel DEX, vi basterĂ  depositare i fondi sull’indirizzo fornito. Una volta ricevuti, potrete disporne a vostro piacimento;
  • Se, al contrario, siete utenti della rete Cosmos e volete approfittare dell’implementazione del protocollo per acquistare un po’ di LUNA, vi basterĂ  farlo nella sezione “Trade”. Una volta acquistati LUNA o UST (con i vostri ATOM, OSMO, CRO o una delle tante valute presenti), i token verranno depositati sul vostro wallet interno a Keplr, e quindi visibili sempre nella sezione “Asset” del DEX. Se vorrete ritirarli su altri wallet come Terra Station, non dovrete far altro che selezionare "Withdraw" e inserire l’indirizzo di destinazione.

Chiaramente, anche detenere i LUNA in stake presso uno dei validators presenti su Terra Station ha i suoi numerosi vantaggi. Oltre a ricevere rewards derivanti dalle fee, i delegators possono ricevere airdrop dai nuovi progetti che stanno nascendo sulla rete (e LOOP ne è un esempio) e prendere parte alla governance votando sulle proposte di modifica alla blockchain. Se sia più conveniente mettere in stake i LUNA o spostarli su altre reti, come Cosmos, lascio a voi deciderlo. Fatto sta che con l’introduzione del protocollo IBC, la principale stablecoin di Terra (UST) sta diventando sempre più richiesta nell’universo DeFi e, visto che è LUNA a garantire l’ancoraggio di UST al dollaro con un meccanismo di burning (per creare 1UST bisogna bruciare l’equivalente di $1 in LUNA), il prezzo del token di governance di Terra potrebbe arrivare alle stelle!
