Death and Crypto.

Sitting in an urgent care waiting for a Covid test because I woke up feeling punky and we went to family event on Saturday got me thinking about my investments.

I have several accounts across brokerages, Coinbase and Hive. I wondered what would happen if I died. I imagine the brokerage and Coinbase accounts could be handled by wills or powers of attorney.

But what of the keys on Hive? My children don’t really show interest in the crypto world. And I’m not sure if they would be able to access my accounts.

I believe I’ll be showing them how to find my keys and how to access soon. There is nothing like the fear that several thousand dollars in assets would just lie fallow if I passed away.

I recommend that anyone with crypto assets consider what will happen in such a situation. Steps should be taken to let loved ones know how to find the keys and access the accounts. You should show them how to convert and transfer out if need be. Or even keep the assets there to continue earning rewards. I know I will.
