As the community grows, the development can not be looked after by single person. You have to engage different people to develop, maintain and market the platform.

In my previous post I have mentioned about the Governance Model. Once the framework is in place, the community votes on the proposals and those voted by the maximum POB Power would be accepted and others would be rejected.

Yesterday @coffeelovers in his comment on one of my posts asked if it is possible to find out how many accounts have zero POB power, when I decided to analyse the distribution of POB Power.

Hence it becomes necessary to look at the distribution of the power in the community. To do this, I performed the analysis on 17th May and the data of the POB holders is quite interesting. For this analysis I divided all the investors in 9 Categories Viz.

1.Who are un-staking
2.Having Zero Balance
3.Between 1 and 100
4.Between 100 and 500
5.Between 500 and 1000
6.Between 1000 and 5000
7.Between 5000 and 10000
8.Between 10000 and 25000 and
9.25000 and above.

Here are some of the observations.

Distribution of POB Power

  • 40% of the total power is controlled by the accounts having POB power above 25000. There are only 5 accounts having more than 25000 POB power. In order for any proposal to be accepted 51% of the community voting power is required. These 5 accounts are in position to turn the tables. If these 5 accounts are convinced then any proposal would pass through.
  • Second important aspect of this distribution is more than 75% of the accounts have POB power between 1 to 100. These are the small account holders who control not even 4% of the total POB Power. So even if they are close to 2100 in numbers, they would have very little impact on any proposal.
  • In response to @coffeelovers querry, there are 435 accounts which have zero balance in their wallets. These accounts are close to 15% of the total investor accounts on the platform but have zero collective power. These are the contributors who consider POB as another token and when they receive it, they go to sell it.
  • This issue is not getting discussed much but there are 36 accounts, which are un-staking their power from their accounts and the collective value of this power down is low and is just close to 1%

These four observations mean that the platform needs more distributed power. Only then there would be a real governance.
