Have you thought of the fact that china has been growing really fast and the world is looking at them as a very fast economy because they are believed to be growing at a 6% - 7% for several years and maybe that is why they are now an economic super power and the United States is concerned about them but the truth is when China isn’t one of the fastest growing economies on earth, to be sincere the United States should even worry less about them and worry about some other continent that seem like less threat. You know, I think the reason China is in the radar is because it is a communist economy but to be candid, in the last few years Africa has been growing very fast but you know, they aren’t seen as a threat like China because they are seen as less.

In 2018 according to Wikipedia, 38% of the top 50 fastest growing economy in the world comes from Africa. Africa has been the most underdeveloped continent in centuries but within the year 2002 and 2018, the GDP per capital of sub-Saharan Africa moved from $588 to $1600.

What has boosted African country economy?

For over 500 years, Africa has been known to be a poor continent, I mean the poorest continent but when China began to grow their economic strength, they started investing in so many African countries and giving hands of support to them and increasing aid and trade to African countries.

My Weird Thought, don’t take it serious

(Do you mean African might be the war ground if china starts a war? Literarily, I will say China is gaining influence in Africa and if China can promise security and restructuring if there is a war, African countries only have to be loyal to their investor.)

China has been investing in a lot of African countries for example, the railway project in countries like Nigeria, Kenya, Ethiopia, Angola, and DJibouti have been fully funded by China, Zimbabwe’s new Parliament house was funded by China, The African Union headquarters, West African block headquarters and several other project was funded by China. In 2018, China announced a $60 Billion investment financing plan only for Africa.

(Do you mean China owns Africa? No, no, no. but China has gained a lot of influence in Africa

Why is China Investing in Africa?

China influence in Africa has grown as China has become Africa’s biggest trading partner with over $128 billion yearly but this isn’t the same with the United States which trades about $48 Billion yearly. Don’t get it twisted, most of this trades are in exchange for resources like Crude oil. 1/3 of oil used in China are from African countries. You can also guess that with the population of Africa, investing in Africa will be profitable. China makes about 11% as return from investing in Africa yearly. Also, China is known to enjoy using cheap labor and for Africa, the apple didn’t fall far from the tree. Africa has a lot of cheap labor for example, countries like Ethiopia have a lot of cheap labors. China runs about 12% of the manufacturing companies in Africa.

How China is using their Influence Politically on African?

Due to the rate at which China has been investing in Africa as well as the rate of loaning money to African countries (2/3 of all African loans come from China), it is visible that china has gotten influence on African nations. In so many circumstances where key decisions are to be made which will stand against China or its Allies, So many African countries will prefer not to vote instead of vote against China. Like the human right violation against North Korea by the United States in 2007 and since China and North Korea are good Allies, the vote from China was not to condemn North Korea although other continents like Europe, North America, South America and Australia voted to condemn North Korea, about 70% of the countries that got support from China chose not to vote at all while others voted the same way as China. This also happens in the United Nations voting sessions. Ones China makes a Vote, most African Nations do not want to go against the vote so they most likely will not vote.

What is your take on China and Africa relationship?
