NFT Game - Splinterlands Card Renting tips for begginers

If you don't want to buy your cards for battle, your only option is to rent. Renting Splinterlands cards for the battle is difficult if you don't know the rules. So to give you some tips, I wrote down some of my experiences and other stories that I've heard from other players. I hope this guide could help you.

Disclaimer:

I am not an expert in Splinterlands, I only play in Silver and Gold League, when I have the time and opportunity, I play in Diamonds but that's it.

I wrote these tips because I have experienced most of them ( or at least some of the players I knew have already experienced them)

Renting cards for the battle is kind of difficult right now. It's because you need to rent power first before opening your daily focus. If you don't meet your ratings required power for that league, your focus points will give you a bronze rewards chest even though your rating is high.

In the first example, I have opened my daily focus without renting, the result is my daily focus rewards turn into bronze rewards even though my rating is already silver (1,872). It's because I did not rent first to fill up my power before opening the focus. Make it a practice not to claim your focus rewards immediately. Check your power first if it is sufficient with your current rating.

In the second example, I rented more than enough power first before opening the focus and it will give me rewards based on my league.

If I have played first and reached 1,900 ratings before opening the focus, the rewards will be gold.

It's kind of confusing if you are a new player or you haven't played for a while.

Always read posts from @splinterlands to get the latest news and updates.

It is hard to predict what daily focus will appear after clicking that button, There are new focuses that you need to consider like healing, flying, etc. These are called ability focus, but don't worry there is a guide for that in case you didn't know. So what do I think is the best strategy for renting cards?

Here are some tips that I hope can help you when renting Splinterlands cards.

Consider your league before renting, there are rules where specific ability focused only appears on a specific league.

For example: Flying ability and Melee focus will only appear under Silver League. So if you are going to rent before opening the focus, make sure you have cards that have this ability.

Consider Renting Neutral cards which can fall under some specific daily focus like flying and melee if you are playing under silver league.

Gold Cards VS Regular Foil

There are so many gold cards in the market that are much cheaper than regular foil if you will just search. (Please read my post or watch my video about renting gold foil cards.) Gold foil has many advantages aside from them sometimes being cheaper. They also give additional reward points per win and you can easily fill up your desired power because they have high collection power.

Regular foil cards are also good, but they don't give you additional rewards per battle. The good thing about regular cards aside from most of them being cheap is that you can almost rent all the elements, because of this, you can play all battle rules.

Rent more Neutral cards

I usually rent more neutral cards because they can be used by all elements. The only time you can't use your neutral cards is when the rule is "Taking Sides" (it doesn't allow us to use neutral cards in battle) I don't worry to much about it because it seldom appears.

Don't rent more power above your summoners league. (in the middle of the rent)

I mean if you have already rented enough cards for that league, even though your rating already reached the second league and you only need to add a few power, don't do it. Your cards will just be bullied in that higher league.

*You can rent additional cards after opening the focus, but don't let it exceed the power that can make your league jump to another league.

This is a mistake I've made before. All my summoners are at level 4, meaning I am in the silver league. While playing, my rating moved to 1900+, because I wanted to jump to gold I rented additional cards, just enough to move to Gold League. I did not consider that most players there has a higher level card, I thought I could easily beat Gold League cards using Max Level cards for Silver but I was wrong. If you want to move to a higher league, do it the next time you rent.

Break your rented cards into odd and even Mana

Most of the time we just rent cards that we think are powerful and have good abilities. We don't consider the Mana, the problem is when the odd and even mana rule applies. We will just notice that we don't have enough cards to use.

Check what you are renting, if they are mostly odd numbers, try looking for even number cards that are also effective.

Rent low Neutral mana cards

The Little League rule is one of my most hated rules in battle. I don't rent many cards that are below 4 because they are usually not that good.

The average Mana that I rent is 5-7. But since this rule bothers me so much, I started renting Cards with 4 mana now. I usually rent Neutral cards only just to play it safe.

Rent one full lineup of your favorite element

We don't know which element will be allowed before clicking the battle button. The problem is we need to rent first before clicking that Focus button.

What I do is rent a complete line-up of one of my favorite element first. I usually rent a complete lineup of Death Element. BTW when I say complete, what I mean is I rent Tank, Assasin, Opportunity, and Magic attack cards of that element at least 6 cards to fill all the spots.

*Example of what I mean by a complete lineup

Rent a partial lineup of your non-favorite element

I rent partial cards of my Non-favorite element, 1 Tank and 1 with sneak and snipe. after opening the focus, if an element focus appears, I will just fill it up. So basically I used 2 complete sets in every focus. 1set I rent before opening the focus and the other after opening the focus.

You dont need to rent Gold Foil for partial, I just rented gold foil because I need enough power.

Rent Dragon summoner

Rent a dragon summoner if you don't want to rent all summoners of each element.

Renting period should reach EOS

I always want to maximize my rentals as much as possible. I always want it to reach the EOS. If you rent 1 day before the EOS, the problem is your card level will not match your league after the reset. Make sure you rent at least 47 hours before the EOS or else it will all expire and your league after the reset will fall to bronze.

Check for Expiring cards

Always check for Expiring or Canceled rent cards. The best way to do this is by going to pekmonsters.com.

Click my cards, Check no for owned, and all of your rented cards will appear. There is also a renew button if you want to renew the rental. You must have DEC in your ingame account to renew rental in peakmonsters.

Note: I only use this strategy written above when I'm already in the silver or above league. I have a different strategy when I'm in bronze, to see my strategy for bronze, follow me and put me under your followed list so that my post will appear in your feed.
