Viviendo en hiperinflación

Living in hyperinflation

¡No me creen!

This is a very interesting challenge, which serves as a catharsis for those of us who suffer from the effects of living in hyperinflation. Any economist with good didactics will give us a lesson that includes analysis and a prognosis that is understandable to most of the complex phenomenon from a macroeconomic perspective.

In general, anxiety and frustration take hold of people, the oldest see undoing the security achieved over the years, and the young, pale before the impossibility of achieving the well-being of their parents, now in constant deterioration.

However, although we share the boat, each one lives it differently according to their own internal and external circumstances. In my case, I live in Venezuela. One of the countries that were once prosperous. Of course, there were problems, and we complained to anywhere. But now, we live in unprecedented situations. To begin with, it is not enough to talk about Hyperinflation. That is an understatement. We suffer from stagflation, that is, the union of inflation with economic decline, obviously aggravated. The worst thing is that it was deliberate; what happens in my country is a test to be applied soon to the rest of the world.

Well, let's get down to business, and let me tell you something about my experience based on the questions posed. But first a brief introduction. I belonged to the extinct middle class of professional origin. I worked for a decent retirement that will guarantee the needs and some desires of my and my family according to Maslow's theory. That is, I bought an apartment, vehicles, and normal appliances, nothing of extreme luxuries beyond the fashionable technological devices. With the savings and pension, continue to maintain the customary lifestyle after a productive working life. But everything changed with deliberate stagflation by wiping out the middle class to make it poor. Now I am a poor man who lives touching $ 2 a day to support a family and pets. It sounds dramatic, but not everything is bad, you will see.

  • What is the hardest part of living in hyperinflation?

This is quite a subjective question that depends on personal circumstances. I deduce that for those who are extremely rich, as for those who live in conditions of extreme poverty; they will not have noticed a big difference. On the other hand, it did not go unnoticed for me, seeing savings abruptly disappear and the ability to maintain the lifestyle diminished. Now I only procure food and pay for basic services.

Difficult or easy financially? It makes no sense if you are healthy, and for that, I thank God every day. The rest comes also if you work for the good of those around you. Now, the difficult thing is to see your relatives emigrate in search of a better future. Children, brothers, and even some parents in the distance without knowing if they will meet again in the future. The positive aspect is that if they are fortunate, they support you with remittances to alleviate the situation of those who are left behind.

  • What have you learned from this situation?

That it takes little to live if you know where to look. That difficulty is the engine of creativity, and solidarity is a fundamental lever to overcome the obstacles that arise along the way.

The conditions that surround your life can change suddenly or gradually; it does not matter so much. What matters is the attitude with which you face it, and you are not alone if you have a family that supports you and a community that cares about you. If not, it is never too late, rebuild severed ties and create new relationships with proactive and sincere behavior.

  • What was the trigger for hyperinflation in your country?

This is a specific question. In my opinion, stagflation in my country, and I use this term because I consider it more appropriate than just hyperinflation to define what is happening in Venezuela; it is a deliberate result of a state policy. So the triggers are multifactorial.

The execution of a consistent strategy for more than twenty years whose main objective was the destruction of the national productive apparatus, especially the oil industry; the worst was the perversion of national ethics and the incentive to corruption at all levels just to keep an emerging elite subordinate to globalism.

  • What advice would you give to a foreigner who is about to start living in hyperinflation in your country?

This is a very difficult question to answer based on the global landscape. You know, there is currently talk and discussion in international forums about restarting the economy to avoid climate change. They do not believe me! This week the virtual version of the annual meeting in Davos is being held, where they talk about the 2030 agenda and the Great Reset. So something harsher than hyperinflation is cooking behind the scenes. Many experts predict dystopian worlds, perhaps the Covid19 pandemic was the milestone that marks the reboot.

I could only advise you economically to look for assets resistant to manipulation by financial elites. Such buy gold, silver, platinum; Although in my opinion, for now, investing in the crypto market seems the most logical and safe for ordinary mortals.

  • How HIVE and Leofinance help people living in hyperinflation?

The most important and easy question to answer. The help is enormous. Based on my experience, if it weren't for #hive and recently #leofinance, my situation would be more critical. Not only economically, but also psychologically.

In addition to obtaining rewards that alleviate the serious economic situation, the power to interact in communities with others to share ideas, hobbies, and interests; keeps me active, away from frustration. That is, it maintains mental health in the face of so much adversity.

Someone might argue against, "So why don't you use Facebook, Twitter, or another social network?" My answer is simple, do you want to grow as a person? Then come to #hive and his world. Even if you are smart enough, the community will reward you beyond a cold "LIKE."
