ATMOS Staking 2.0

Today Discussions.app is introducing Staking 2.0 as one of the steps to promote a more secure and decentralized network by incentivizing token holders to stake ATMOS tokens, providing resources to process transactions on the ATMOS network. 2.0 introduces a weighted staking system that will incentivize token holders to lock-up ATMOS for up to 365 days in exchange for a higher distribution of network rewards.

As more ATMOS is staked, the chances of a 51% attack is greatly reduced and staking rewards will decrease to reflect this added security.

Accessing the Staking interface.

To access the staking interface, simply select 'STAKE' from the Wallet tab.

To create a new staking position, first, unlock your wallet by entering your password followed by the amount of ATMOS you wish to stake as well as the duration you wish to stake your tokens.

Please be mindful that you will not be able to exit your staking position until it is fully matured.

Once your stake has processed successfully, you will be able to see the expected APR of your stake as well as other useful information like how much ATMOS have been staked in total as well as the system subsidy.

In this example, I can expect an APR of 63% for 1000 ATMOS staked for 1 year.

Other useful information in the staking interface includes all the staking positions you've opened, what the duration distribution is for all the ATMOS staking positions.

Currently, around 3 million ATMOS have already been staked by Discussions' early beta-testers and 1.3 million of that 3 million have staked for the maximum duration of one year.

Future Development.

Discussions, powered by the ATMOS network, is delivering a comprehensive set of tools to allow token communities to effectively engage and grow their communities. They will be adding staking support for different tokens in the future, with the fees generated from such transactions going to ATMOS token holders in the final version of our staking system. That will include special, lightweight software that will contribute to the operation of the ATMOS network as well the applications that rely on it.

If you have further questions regarding the new staking system, do not hesitate to ask in the replies below the original post: https://discussions.app/tag/atmos/g2e1v9s6hlzm/staking-is-now-live-to-all-atmos-holders
The team will be replying to them as soon as they can.

@bluabaleno wants to thank beta-testers for offering them valuable feedback on the staking interface, and the team will continue to refine it in the coming days as they hear more from you.
