Lat week in crypto was not what I would call action-packed but we did see a lot of exciting headlines. Here is the most important news that you may have missed during the last 7 days.

3speak LARYNX Claimdrop Is Live!

After a few delays, the LARYNX claim drop is finally here. Those that are eligible will be able to claim their tokens every month over the course of 1 year. A guide on how to claim them can be found here.

Trading is also live but for now, there doesn't seem to be a lot of volume. LARYNX tokens are selling for ~0.07 Hive at the time of writing.

Solstarter Buying Fake Engagement On Twitter

My favorite crypto twitter detective Zachxbt has spotted yet another shady shilling attempt, this time performed by Solstarter and Glitter Finance. For those unfamiliar, Solstarter is a well-known "launchpad" on Solana where token presales take place.

If you didn't get the message, it is a fantastic project with great potential. It reminds me of that time when Waltonchain won the Waltonchain giveaway.

Fun times...

Pepe the Frog NFT Drama Ends With Lawsuit

My fellow frogs were bussy last week as well. Long story short, someone paid US$537,084 for a Pepe meme on an auction and the value got diluted quickly after the creator released that same "artwork" for free a few weeks later.

The NFT auction in question took place last October and was conducted by the frog's creator Matt Furie and his organization called PegzDAO.

In the auction, the organization apparently disclosed the existence of 99 additional NFTs with the identical "Pepe the Frog" image, but allegedly insisted that those would remain in possession of PegzDAO. Therefore, the affluent buyer paid over half a million dollars in crypto assuming that he would receive a unique NFT in return. But as it turned out, the organization ultimately released 46 identical and completely free NFTs only a few weeks later.

Thayer has now filed a lawsuit and claims that the value of his NFT dropped significantly due to the release of the aforementioned free additional "Pepe the Frog" NFTs, while he also accuses the creator and his organization of unlawful business practices.

"Artwork" and full story can be found here

Elizabeth Warren Tries Really Hard To Make Crypto Look Bad

Senator Warren expressed concerns that Russians will be able to hide their wealth thanks to crypto. Even though she was given reassurance that the market is not as liquid as she thinks it is, this didn't stop her to keep ranting and pushing an anti-crypto narrative.

A fun video to watch if you have 7 minutes to spare.

Ukraine Legalizes Crypto

Last week Ukrainian president Zelensky signed a law to legalize crypto. Many are speculating that this is because of all the crypto donations that keep pouring into Ukraine but whatever it is, it helps adoption grow and Jerry likes it.

The Parliament has adopted a law on virtual assets. I think the president is about to sign it into law in a matter of days. So we strive to be as friendly to virtual assets as possible. And we are continuing this effort during wartime as well

Vitalik Takes A Shot At BAYC

Time magazine interviewed Vitalik Butterin last week dubbing him the "prince of crypto". During that interview Vitalik touched on the NFT madness that is taking place on Ethereum right now, specifically the million-dollar monkey jpegs.

One silver lining of the situation in the last three weeks is that it has reminded a lot of people in the crypto space that ultimately the goal of crypto is not to play games with million-dollar pictures of monkeys, it’s to do things that accomplish meaningful effects in the real world

Meanwhile monkey jpg holders got an airdrop worth hundreds of thousands in the form of Ape Coin. Supposedly it will be the backbone of a new metaverse project and it will provide exclusive acess to specific real-world services. @l337m45732 covers the whole story in his blog post.
