There are two different Splinterlands rental bots that I have found and I was trying to figure out which one I would choose. I have seen quite a few people use Splex but not very many people use the SplinterRents (discord bot). So I was going to compare the different options before picking one of them for myself. According to my previous post, I know that there is a lot of room to earn more from my Splinterlands collection and I don't have as much time to actively check in on my rental cards every single day. So an automated Rental bot service would help me increase the income that I earn and at the same time, any fees that I do get would be covered through this increase.

Splex

This seems like the option that most people use and it comes in with a good UI/webpage. In order to join, you must message one of the administrators and then add your posting key key so they can change the price of the cards. From what I see, they will only change the prices for cards that are already rented out for you. As everything can be done online through their UI outside of the registration process, it is much easier to manage. The fee they charge is 10% and this may drop slightly for those earning a lot of DEC off rentals.

SplinterRents (Discord Bot)

SplinterRents is run entirely on Discord and thus everything has to happen over there. As it doesn't have an easy-to-use UI, it means that there is quite a bit of reading involved. Rather than having to give them your posting key, SplinterRents just requires you to give them posting key access. This can be done through PeakD and this means that they never have access to your posting key. Besides this, you have to actually exclude cards manually one by one or through a spreadsheet if you plan on using some cards that you want to use for yourself.

Which one would I choose?

I am very tempted to just use Splex as it's much easier to manage through their UI. I also understand that giving someone your posting key is not as risky as some active key. However, this security aspect makes me lean more toward giving SplinterRents a try. There are just so many people who use Splex and I want to compare the prices that I get with the Splex estimator to see if the performance of this service is comparable or not. Whenever I want to stop using SplinterRentals, all I need to do is remove the posting key for SplinterRents through PeakD. Over the weekend, I will get started with the process and I felt that SplinterRents should get an actual review in comparison to Splex. It also has a lower fee for managing the rentals.

So in the end, I will be trying out SplinterRents even if it's going to be cumbersome. In the end, I don't even know if renting out all of the cards will cause my power to drop below the limit so I will just have to use the spreadsheet to manage which cards and I might even document what has to be done in a future post for anyone interested. The documentation is all in Discord but it's essentially a big blob of text and it's not that user-friendly.

Either way, I want to try the discord method because I haven't heard many people talk about the service that much, and I can't make an accurate estimate until I see what it has done and how it compares. Maybe at some point, I will cancel it and move to Splex to try it as well but I am not sure yet.

Do you use any of these services and if so, how is your experience with them so far?

Please feel free to leave a comment if you have any questions or feedback.
