I decided to just skip out on the tower defense game as I don't really have the funds and I am not sold on a tower defense game. For some reason, I kind of want to wait to see how this game will standout from the rest.

Yes your points are logical.
Tower Defense like all games not yet playable is objectively a medium to high risk investment even if Splinterlands is still a guarantee that at least the game will be developed ;)
I have decided to invest but have not pushed harder, I have taken 167 packs, and like you I will wait to see the developments.
However, there are many projects in development and like you, I don't have funds to participate in all projects and that is why it is right to choose when funds are limited ;)
