I figured I'd take a break today from my external content and look at the push to revive the Leofinance websites progress and growth. It is no secret that growth stalled for the base layer of the Leofinance community, the website itself. Our Alexa rankings peaked and have steadily declined over the last few months, as outlined in this post by @jaraumoses. A look also at the Simple Analytics site tells the story - very clearly, I think.

Does anyone remember what happened around the second week of March, when activity on Leofinance peaked?

CubFinance launched.

I won't say anything more on that, you can draw your own conclusions. I have posted about this once before, in this post a couple of months ago.

Google search.

I applaud the efforts being made by some to focus on improving the SEO optimization of articles to rank higher on Google searches. This effort has been spearheaded, as far as I can tell, by @hitmeasap, and @forexbrokr, and I applaud them for it. SEO is a tough game, and the Leofinance website hasn't built up its authority levels enough yet for content to rank naturally. This is a tough grind, and definitely not my strength.

My posts don't generally do well on google, and I don't really spend any time trying to really. Everyone has their own strengths, and mine are elsewhere. I think the SEO push is fantastic, and would encourage people to read this article by @taskmaster4450le on the topic. But search isn't everything, and there are other great ways to drive more traffic to Leo.

Twitter.

Here is where everyone can make an impact. Twitter is the ground zero for the Crypto community. Everyone splits of into telegram, or discord, or other blog sites, or whatever. But most of crypto is on twitter, and catching attention and growing your audience there will help drive traffic to Leo. This too is not an easy task, and requires consistency and persistence over time. I have seen the new push by @trumpman sponsoring @fabian98 and others to promote posts on twitter, and encourage that effort.

Since I started aiming my content at an audience on twitter and reddit, it has been a steady grind to build my follower base. Early on, you may have seen me posting a lot about Thorchain. That was really where it started for me, focusing on external content. Early on, having my tweets with post links perform well really relied on getting a retweet from the project account. If the Thorchain account retweeted my post, it would do well.

Slowly, over time, people started to follow my twitter handle. My content has shifted, and I am mostly focused these days on the Cosmos eco-system. But the reliance on retweets has dropped over time, and my tweets are performing well without them of late. Here are some of my Twitter analytics:

My best performing tweet:

My last 28 days of tweet impressions:

More recently, over the last week, 4 of the top ten articles being clicked through from twitter to LeoFinance, have been to my posts.

Not trying to brag, there are other people here making a big effort in this regard. I would encourage everyone to tweet out your articles, particularly posts that are not about Leo or Hive. External focused content is what will bring people to Leo, not posts on Leo about how good Leo is. No one cares (outside of LEO) to be blunt. If you tell people on twitter how good Leo is, they will ignore you. If you tell people on Twitter how good the project they are invested in is, they will click the link and read your post.

When I write a post, honestly I really don't care if no-one on Leofinance reads it. My target audience is not here on Leo, it is on Twitter and Reddit. I am delighted when Leo people do read and engage and vote, but I'm posting for an external audience. Except for this post, this one I do want Leo hope Leo people read.

Reddit.

It seems like sharing posts on Reddit has become a forgotten past-time, with our referrals from Reddit really low of late. But the results you can achieve from Reddit are worth the effort - absolutely.

Lets look at my post yesterday, about the ATOM token. Firstly, this post is the 5th most viewed page on Leofinance in the past week:

To deep dive a little, at the time of writing this post, that post has received 61 views from Twitter. However, it has received 157 views from Reddit so far. Do you want to know how long it took me to post to reddit the link to the article... less than a minute. It is a very simple headline, and link drop, in the right community, telling everyone there what they want to hear - that their favorite token is about to pump. That's it. I have engaged and received a number of comments, and actually quite enjoy the engagement levels at times on Reddit.

Here is the link to the Reddit post, I would encourage you to take a quick look to see what the results can be when you put your stuff out there. "Right place, right time" can only happen if you are somewhere.

In conclusion:

  • SEO optimize if that's your thing, but it isn't the only way.
  • Tweet, use tags, and not necessarily hive/posh/leo tags to attract curators. Target external, leo voters will notice in time.
  • Reddit - share, and engage with any comments you get.
  • Persist. learn from what works, and what doesn't work for you, and keep pushing.

Leofinance is an awesome community, and we have seen where we can go with a solid push. In the lead up to Cub, the place was jumping, with growing activity levels, an improving Alexa ranking and a strong token price. Let's try and get that momentum back.

Thanks for reading,

JK.
