This Week In The Cosmos.

Welcome to the first edition of "This Week In The Cosmos". These will be a weekly newsletter style of post where I will attempt to preview some of the events that are likely to happen in the next week across the Cosmos eco-system. Undoubtedly, I will miss some, and others will creep up as a surprise. I welcome contributions from my followers on Leofinance and Twitter if you know of anything coming up that I may miss.

Stargaze airdrop.

The airdrop for STARS, the native token for the Stargaze network will become available to claim very soon. The snapshots for this drop were taken back on Oct 11 2021, so recent arrivals to the Cosmos may have to watch on for this one. There are 5 categories that qualified for the drop. They are:

  • ATOM stakers
  • OSMO stakers or LP's
  • Delegators to the Stargaze validator on Cosmos (ATOM)
  • Delegators to the Stargaze validator on Osmosis (OSMO)
  • Delegators to the Stargaze validator on REGEN Network.

Each category qualifies for a fixed amount, being 2453 STARS. With the current value of STARS being around $0.60 each, this drop could be worth from nearly $1500 to as much as $7500 per person (or qualifying wallet technically). One thing to note is that this drop will have tasks to perform to claim each segment, like the Osmosis drop did for those familiar with it. You can check how many STARS you qualify for at this site. You can also see the missions and countdown till the drop is live at this link. With just under 12 hours to go at the time of this publication, It will be interesting to see how people treat this drop. Stake, Swap, LP or Dump? We shall soon find out. 60% of the airdrop will be claimable straight away (by completing a few easy tasks), the other 40% will come when the Stargaze NFT marketplace launches later in the year.

Currently the staking APR for STARS is over 110%, but that will likely drop a little as supply/staking increases from this drop. The STARS/OSMO LP is over 500% APR currently, and the STARS/ATOM pool over 1000%, for now. These figures include the external incentives provided by the Stargaze project.

Likecoin airdrop.

Likecoin is a project that has been around for a while, but has recently joined the IBCgang and is launching an airdrop for ATOM and OSMO communities, as well as their existing community of "Likers".

The website to check your qualifications for LIKE can be found here. At the time of publication, it still said "Coming Soon", but it is anticipated that this drop should be happening imminently. Currently, the token is worth a little over $0.033 each on Osmosis, and with a total of 50 million tokens being dropped, it will probably be a relatively small drop in the grand scheme of things. There will be a few tasks to perform to obtain the full amount, like the above STARS drop and OSMO previously.

I haven't followed this project closely, so will probably stake it and see what happens.

Osmosis ATH.

OSMO continues to explore price discovery, with a push over $10 for the first time looking to be holding currently. With a surge in TVL, and many of the tokens on Osmosis having OSMO as its main trading pair, this growth shows no signs of slowing. Market cap is surging, and OSMO looks poised to enter the top 50 very soon. I'd like to call this week, but its crypto and anything could happen. However, with the unique proposition that OSMO holds, and the momentum throughout the Cosmos currently, I wouldn't bet against a top 50 position this week.

The external incentives available on a number of pools at the moment, like the CMDX, and HUAHUA pools to pick just two examples make building up some decent sized positions an highly attractive move at the moment.

Junoswap.

JUNO has been another success story of the last few months. With high staking rewards, and success on Osmosis with dual incentives, the JUNO token has been a strong performer. Now, with the primary use case of the Juno network just starting to come to life, it will be an interesting week for Juno. Junoswap is a new AMM, on Juno, that has launched operations in the last couple of days.

It will be interesting to watch Junoswap develop over the coming weeks. It is now live, with a very MVP feel to it currently. A few pools have gone live, but their is no incentives yet beyond the standard swap fees. An interesting point is that the team behind it have said a new native token for Junoswap will be launched soon, but a request for JUNO from the Community pool has been made to JUNO governance also.

It remains to be seen how this one will perform, with Osmosis so strong at the moment, competing for liquidity in the early days could be tough. However, as a smart contract platform, JUNO over time is likely to grow with a number of projects and contracts adding value and a variety of use cases. Definitely one to watch, and another good token to have staked, and LP's both on Osmosis and Junoswap for future airdrops. The first notable airdrop to the JUNO community is still a couple of weeks away - NETA.

Other projects to watch.

  • HUAHUA - the insane incentives for both staking and providing liquidity on Osmosis role on for the Cosmos's favorite Meme token. When will it drop a zero, and be worth more than a cent each? 400+% staking APR, huge incentives for LP's, this is a useless Meme coin that is growing fast.

  • Comdex - The airdrop is still available, if you haven't claimed yet. This project is settling in with its staking and LP rewards proving attractive. Like many Cosmos tokens it has performed very well lately, and as the team builds towards a launch of its core product hopefully late February, the next few weeks may be a little quiet.

  • Dig - quietly getting added onto Osmosis in the last few days, this project could be a real sleeper. No airdrop that I am aware of, but an interesting project nonetheless. Check their twitter account for more info.

  • Desmos - Just want to shout out this project. regular followers would be aware of their airdrop, which was a little controversial to begin with. But things have settled down and DSM has boomed in the last day or two on Osmosis. Low liquidity and high volume is showing there is demand, and the price has 4X'd in the last few days. $1.62 currently, the week ahead will be interesting.

  • Kava - just after I posted this post, I then saw that the Kava addition of IBC happens in two days time. I'll take a closer look when this upgrade goes live in a separate post, as I'm interested to have a play around with it. Kava is a platform I have not used or really explored at all before, So I'm curious.

That's it from me for this weeks look at the Cosmos - lets hope it is a week full of continued green candles and airdrops for all.
