Splinterlands bottleneck is diminishing my ROI

I have been playing Splinterlands for about a month or so, the game is simple and quite fun, but since I reach bronze tier III, I simply cannot keep playing. The main issue is that at bronze III, I get matched against bronze I players with higher power than me (ie 300 vs 19k).

This is an issue, especially for new players. All I can do is just play a few matches at the beginning of the season and then wait 14 days to claim and open 5 chests. In between, I must be playing some game to complete daily quests and grind some DEC to buy better cards.

Surrender is the new green

As consequence, I see how my ROI is diminished and/or delayed. To soften the damage, I tried to rent my best cards (actually 2 champs) but seems pretty difficult when there are hundreds of players renting the same card. At this point, I don’t know how much it will take me to see some kind of profit, it will depend on the RNG of those 5 chests.

I would prefer to wait a few minutes until I get a match with the same power as me. Since the game search for an opponent almost imminently I can deduce (or maybe I’m wrong) that it matches with the first found player. Also, I can deduce there is a big power bottleneck between bronze I and the next league (silver) because most players I found are from bronze I and not from tier II or tier I.

My amazing 0.32 wins per battle ratio

As a player and beginner, is quite frustrating when there is no feeling of progression and not receiving any return for coming and play every day. I don’t know how this will affect the game in the long term but sure there will be a lot of players leaving Splinterlands if they are in my situation.

If you are considering this game as a play2earn investment, either you are truly patient like me or you must invest a ton of money to avoid those bottlenecks. An option I'm currently exploring and maybe cheaper is to rent full decks and play with them for some time.

You can leave in the comments your experience, any tip would like to share, or to point out something I'm missing as a total noob.
