A cheaper way to claim $PNG airdrop on Avalanche.

What $PNG Airdrop? Airdrops.io covered it. Free tokens of a Uniswap AMM clone on Avalanche Blockchains. If you still have UNI or SUSHI tokens held in your ETH account on Dec 7, 2020, you'll maybe eligible to claim an airdropped amount of
$PNG token refer token price on CoinGecko. How many token? You'll need to visit PNG Airdrop page, connect your wallet holding UNI/SUSHI and you shall know the claimable amount. Repeat it for other ETH accounts if you have more than one.

This supplement guide was tweaked to save on the Ethereum gas fee and targeted specifically for UNI token holders. The main difference is purchase AVAX from centralized exchanges, transfer to an Avalanche wallet, swap AVAX for one UNI on Pangolin and claim $PNG. Thus, there will be no UNI or SUSHI token bridge between Layer-1 Ethereum to Avalanche. Detail steps ensue below narrowing to the use of Metamask, AVAX Web Wallet & Binance centralized exchange.

Prepare Metamask Wallet

  1. Connect to Avalanche C-Chain RPC with Metamask.
  2. Add RPC custom node in your Metamask with the following network properties

  1. Add PNG token to Metamask asset list, refer to Full guide link above.
  2. Ensure your Metamask stores the wallet which has or had UNI/SUSHI token on or before Dec 7, 2020. You can reuse this wallet in Avalanche as is EVM compatible. {eg. 0x369...ee7d}

Avalance Web Wallet & Binance

  1. Create a new Avalanche Web Wallet here and backup or write down your 12-words seed phrase. Go to https://wallet.avax.network/ and take note of the X-Chain address and C-Chain address.
  2. Buy some AVAX from centralized exchanges such as Binance, Biki, Bitfinex, Houbi and others. At posting time, 1 AVAX is sufficient to claim only but both asset price are volatile, having more than 1 AVAX is recommended.
  3. Withdraw AVAX from the centralized exchange to your X-Chain wallet address. You can find the X-Chain wallet address in your web wallet.

Binance withdrawal fee is 0.01 AVAX.

  1. Perform a Cross Chain transaction in Avalanche Web Wallet.

Transfer the remaining AVAX from X-Chain to C-Chain and pay 0.001 AVAX fee.

  1. Switch to Send function in Avalanche Web Wallet. Select Source Chain > C, send the remaining AVAX to ETH wallet address which hold/held, UNI/Sushi token on/before Dec 7, 2020. {eg. 0x369...ee7d}

Swap AVAX to UNI

  1. Connect your Metamask wallet that hold/held UNI token to Pangolin Swap
  2. Swap the AVAX for a minimal 1 UNI token.
  3. Once transaction is confirm, go to Pangolin Airdrop
  4. Click Claim X PNG.
  5. Wait once confirm, you'll notice the PNG token in your metamask token list.
  6. Congratulations!

Some extra tips and a warning

  • There is a telegram chat group but is infested with phishing artists or shall I put it crudely, scammers. The admin will never ever DM/PM you first and anyone who does otherwise, is NOT an admin. Do be mindful on this as I almost fell for it myself.
  • For swapping, gas fee is fixed at 470 Gwei, don't change it. Don't worry as the equivalent value in USD is less than USD1 on Avalanche.
  • If your swap or claim transaction is stuck on pending, cancel the transaction, disconnect the wallet from pangolin dApp. Then proceed to reset your metamask by going into Settings > Advanced > Reset. (Don't worry, no transaction cost incur for cancellation and your balance is intact after reset).

Final thoughts Although been tapping out posts on HIVE related game, and I needed to get this out quickly, and is counter productive for me to restart writing in another CMS platform. I tried to create simpler post but somehow ended on the opposite as the inherent steps were plenty.
The total fees incur to execute all these for me was;

  • a) Binance taker/maker fee for purchase AVAX ~ USD 0.08 with (BNB)
  • b) Binance withdrawal fee ~ 0.01 AVAX
  • c) Avalanche cross-chain (X-chain to C-chain) swap fee ~ 0.001 AVAX
  • d) Avalanche send AVAX to Uni/Sushi holding ETH wallet on C-Chain ~ 0.01 AVAX
  • e) Pangolin exchange swap & gas fee AVAX to UNI with ETH wallet on C-Chain. ~ 0.07 AVAX
  • f) Pangolin $PNG token airdrop claim & gas fee. ~ 0.025 AVAX
  • Total cost approximately 0.12 AVAX + BNB token.
