You can HODL both, DEC is to tokens you earn for each battle you win, you can buy cards with DEC, trade them on Hive Engine and even DeFi with them on CubFinanace (I haven't really look into it yet)

The stronger your cards the more win rates for you and more DEC. You can also lease out your unused cards for DEC and also rent...
