How I got stranded because of the cashless policy adoption

It is the desire of every country to catch up with recent technological happenings. If they miss out, they may be seen as "an underdeveloped country"; that is not the actual case, the question those countries should ask is "do they have what it takes to meet up this standard?" There is a need for absolute preparation before adopting what other countries are doing.

My country's economic system led me to this conversation; Nigeria is trying so hard to bring about a cashless policy yet the government is not ready to bear the risk.

I can recall when I went to the supermarket some weeks ago to get some foodstuff, after I had gotten all I needed it was time to make my online transaction but the network failed me. The cashier told me the bank I'm using hasn't been responding to online services for a couple of days. I got stranded. I thought of returning all that I bought since I wasn't able to pay not until I called my friend to help me run the transaction with his bank and it was successful.

I know my country's people will have similar stories to share but in different scenarios. I can recall paying for an anonymous person's ride (Uber) because online transfer failed him too. It is so alarming. Yeah cashless policy is a nice idea that can be adopted, but let the government put things in place before enforcing it in the country.
