Hive's Toughest Critic

Let me put a few things out there before I dive into this post...

I understand, Hive isn't the easiest experience for new people that join our chain. We have onboarding issues, and even though it's always being worked on, there's a lot that can be improved.

O.K. that's out of the way...Let me dive into something I have been noticing a lot. First on my blog last week and more recently on Twitter.

Last week, there was a comment on my blog about everything that needed to change on the blockchain. There wasn't enough development apparently. Apps weren't doing enough and still actually on Steem instead of Hive.

Of course, when I asked the question if they had even tried Veews (something we have put our heart and soul into) the response was...No because it's too simple to think about it...?

On one side of the coin, I get it...As much as we've talked about Veews and used it, it flies under the radar. Actually most of everything we do on Hive flies under the radar.

More recently, while checking on Twitter I've been seeing graphics up of all the apps that are featured on Hive...Rarely do you see mention of anything we are building.

Pride hurt, ego bruised?

Kinda...It stings but then I think....We have to do a better job at promoting our projects to the masses.

And I learned a long time ago, don't expect a single thing on this journey. You have to work for it and show up, no matter what.

But...And this is a big but...Maybe, we don't realize how many hard working people are on this chain, putting their heart and soul into projects...That don't get the users they need?

Promotion needed? Absolutely!

More awareness in marketing? For sure!

And we all have our favorite apps, I know I do...However when I see a project that is busting their tails, I'll always try to support it. But here...We seem to want perfection before anything gets truly supported by the masses.

And it just isn't the case here. There's no VC money on Hive. There's community. And that's what we all hope to tap into when we start building on Hive.

Maybe we've become our own toughest critics. There's nothing wrong with striving to be great in everything we do here, however looking for perfection just won't be found.

We have one of the strongest communities out of any blockchain online, because we can use this stuff each and every day. So why don't we all start....Using it more?

If you see some devs or entrepreneurs out there...Building things...Give their projects a try. Offer feedback. Share it with others. That's the only way these teams get better at what they do, when they get a feel for how the community is embracing their project.

Hey look...I know we can all do better at promoting and building our stuff! And a lot of us are working hard to do just that. Sometimes it's good to get kicked in the butt :)

But we still need...Community!

That's the main reason for building on Hive.
