Promise....

....I'm not going completely biblical on this post ;)

But the verse holds a lot of truth right now for what I'm about to present in this post.

It comes from the Book of Matthew, chapter 9 verse 37.

"....The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few!"

Let's take that into the context of what we have building here on Hive. We have a wealth of opportunity. There is so much potential here. We're only a few years old as a chain. But it seems, the people willing to look past 'price' or any other excuse they can drum up...Are few.

I saw an exchange on Twitter today, and I don't wanna call anyone out by name because that's not my place or the point of this post.

But the general idea behind the complaint I saw against Hive was...

  • The whales never notice the small guys

  • The only way to get ahead here is to 'know the right people'

  • You had to get in super early to Steem to be able to win at this

And more reasons why....People can't succeed here.

I was disturbed by these excuses because, as I'm going to share now, they truly hold no weight here.

Excuse # 1 - The whales never notice the small guys

O.K., first up, the whales don't owe you a thing. If they got lucky to have all that Hive Power, or earned it from other endeavors, doesn't matter to you! It's their share and they can do with it as they please. But here's the funny thing about the whales on Hive...

When you put in value to this blockchain, they notice you!

That doesn't mean you get upvotes each time you press publish, but at the end of the day, you can guarantee that you'll get on someone's radar if you are creating value here!

Excuse # 2 - The only way to get ahead here is to 'know the right people'

Yup! And guess how you do this?

Show up, every day and create value!

One of the people defending Hive actually shared how they had gone to numerous Hive / Steem Fests. They'll met as many Hive community members offline as they could. And because of that...Seem to get support every now and again from the larger accounts.

And welcome to life 101! The best trained and smartest are not always the most rewarded in the real world, so why would that be different here? It does have a lot to do with who you know, so my advice would be....Get more people to know you on Hive :)

Easy fix!

Excuse # 3 - You had to get in super early to Steem to be able to win

Did some people benefit from being super early here? Sure they did, just like anyone that bought Bitcoin when it was 50 cents each.

Early adopters SHOULD be rewarded because they took some big risks. However the idea that you had to be here on day 1 to benefit from this blockchain is nonsense.

I was a nobody on 'Steem' when I joined in 2017. I didn't know a single person. But I showed up every day, I dollar cost averaged into my positions. And never really took a break, regardless of how the price of the token was on the markets. In fact, the ones that seem to be pulling ahead here now, as the ones that stuck with it when we were at 10 cents a token.

Not because they got in early....

But because they stuck the course!

So yeah, this sounds like I'm beating the same old drum....Maybe I am!

But I just can't help thinking....What would happen if we stopped looking at what's so wrong with Hive...And maybe how amazing the potential and opportunity is right here, right now!
