The Silver III Game-Play & Weighing The $900 Investment
So far, with about $900 investment into Splinterlands, I think I am beginning to enjoy the experience of being a gamer of which I initially never thought I could. Splinterlands is addictive to the card and the way the game is designed, you're literally seeing your enemy's opponents by seeing the game rules and mama, in fact, it gets to a point where you begin to accumulate more DEC from quest and game rewards.
You could literally feel the change in your SPS airdrop, I mean even If the changes occurs in cents like from $0.05 to 0.07, this feels tiny, but take a look at how much you could accumulate in let's say one year plus how much it could be valued at immediately the market begins to blow up rather nicely.
You will feel that compounding effect and how it goes all the way down to changing the number of vouchers you are likely to be getting for staking the SPS that is slightly changing when you begin to accumulate even more DEC by playing in lucrative leagues.
So, talking about playing in lucrative leagues yesterday I got a first-hand experience of what it feels like to be playing in the silver leagues. Last season I got into Silver III and due to the fear of falling back into Bronze I, what I did was to stop playing the game for the remaining 3 days before the season ends.
But this time around with the season still about seven days to play, I got into Silver III again, and I couldn't feel the fear of dropping, so what I did was to play, because I couldn't Just wait out seven days and not play because I was scared of going back to Bronze I.
What I did was to calculate that even if I fall back to The previous league, I could still grind my way up and end up again in the Silver III again before the season eventually ends. In fact, even if I was caught in Bronze I, unable to grind my way up again, at least, i'll be earning DECs in my attempts no matter how disappointing it might be.
Dangling The Carrot
This is a risk I was willing to take, I would definitely sacrifice the prospect of X3 reward, if I wanted to keep enjoying the game for the remainder of the season, which I gladly did. I couldn't lose all that excitement. I had level one cards with level one summoners all through. Likewise, I have opened about 70 packs from the 117 packs I initially hold, and I could comfortably increase 50% of my cards to level 2, due to the persistent drop of the same types of cards whenever I opened my packs.
However, I've gotten some rare, epic and legendary cards which I cannot increase their level. They form the remaining 50% of the card which I cannot increase to level 2. I was scared of being torn apart in Silver III, because I haven't increased the level of some of my cards, so I was basically unprepared for Silver III but I threw caution to the wind and went on to eventually compete.
A Stunning Experience
The Experience in Silver III is beautiful, first and foremost, with my level one cards, I manage to take out a lot of opponents. Surprisingly, it wasn't harder than Bronze I. I was in destructive mode and I took out like five opponents in my first five matches in Silver III and what made it possible was that, I thrive well in big mana games, the highest mana in the bronze leagues apart from 99 was 30, but this was different in Silver III.
I could get random mana like 42, 58 or even 44. This was already high enough for me to unleash some of my deadly monsters. But there was the limitation of having to face two game-rules, rather than the one game-rule I was mostly accustomed to.
Nevertheless, I mitigated this by taking advantage of the higher mana I got, it was an exciting challenge. The challenge in bronze I was really as exciting as this. The game-rule was tougher but then, it wasn't the rat race in the bronze leagues.
Silver, DEC & The Collection power Dilemma
I enjoyed earning more DECs. Although along the line, I almost got into Silver II with my level one cards. But then I faced some even nastier opponents with deep pockets and mad cards, that put me in my place, but with more favorable game-rules when I met them in other battles, I took it to them and eventually beat them.
In reality, I wish I could get more collection power, but then 7 months ago, I had only 100 collection power and fast-forward to now, I have about 15.8k. This wouldn't take me into Silver III, and it might take me another one year of accumulating, spending or coming up with creative choices to eventually play in Silver II.
This is where I could relish a delegation, but the main reason I don't rent cards is that, knowing my cards gives me the ability to study their capacity and weakness, but I can't do this with rented cards unless I'm just renting it for the collection power. However, this would put a dent on my SPS earning as I wouldn't be able to accumulate again. All in, it's a tasty experience and believe me, the bronze leagues are the zombie Apocalypse, it's 100% survival mode.
