And in this eighth edition of the series "My Silver Collection" I bring another of my favorite pieces.

The Australian Silver Dragon!

The dragon is surely the most important mythical creature in Chinese culture. In celebration of the Chinese New Year in 2018, the Perth Mint released this beautiful unique rectangular bullion coin.

On the reverse of the coin is the image of the typical snake-shaped dragon. The dragon's long body snakes along the length of the coin, twisting from side to side as it does so. The design is exceptionally ornate and in keeping with many depictions of the dragon in Chinese culture.

Very well done the details in the dragon. Even the scales on the body look well defined!

The obverse of the coin has, as in all Australian coins, the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. The right profile portrait was created in 1998 by Ian Rank-Broadley as the fourth generation representation of the Queen. Also engraved on that side of the coin are the year of issue, face value, nation of issue, weight, purity, and metal content.

I bought quite a few of these Australian Silver Bullion Dragons that year. They are very pretty!

I hope you liked the Australian Silver Dragon and see you in the next coin!
