One of people's favorite activities is to share their life moments in photogaphs and videos! This is why social media platforms are being so popular and home to billions of users of all ages and from all around the world.

The last few years, many blockchain based social media platforms have emerged, which are different from the traditional ones. Why? Because they reward users for posting their content!

Today we will explore a brand new app, Pixie. Pixie rewards its users with crypto. The amount depends on the popularity and quality of the users' posts. But there is a catch. The token, PIX is not tradable yet.

So, why bother? Because it is good to give chances to new projects!

Let's go check this out!

What is .. Pixie?

There are some referral links in the post

In the word of the creators:

Pixie is the world's first fully - functional decentralized photo & video sharing social network based on blockchain cryptoeconomics. Pixie rewards social activities [...] with cryptocurrency PIX, which users can manage and share platform's profits together.

The users can post photos, videos and if they wish, they can create an NFT out of their post.

The chain they use is the Pixie Chain and their token is not yet listed on an exchange. As they market, it will be listed in February (but they have not disclosed where it will be listed)

You can check out their [White Paper here: They mention that they aim to solve the problems of traditional social networks, and to lead the Creator Cryptoeconomy, social network revolution.

If you are interested in the tokenomics, you can refer to pages 11 & 12 of the WhitePaper.

Some of the Chain Characteristics are mentioned in page 16

-Open, decentralized network that maintains the security of the network and assets. -Fully supports EVM and is completely friendly to Ethereum developers (e.g. compatible with any ERC20 Smart Contract, and various Ethereum Defi Smart Contracts, etc). -Pixie PoS consensus mechanism creates a block every 3 seconds, resulting in faster transaction confirmation and higher chain performance at over 500 transactions per second. -Supports cross-chain asset transfers and asset transactions across public chains. -The native cryptocurrency on Pixie Chain is PIX, and node rewards are block rewards plus transaction fees on Pixie Chain. PIX is the official cryptocurrency for all rewards and fees in Pixie. -The Gas fee for digital content transactions of social networks and future on-chain transactions is payable only in PIX. -A validator needs to be voted on by other active validators to become a Pixie Chain consensus node and receive a share of transaction fees according to their stake in the blockchain

My remarks

I created an account on Pixie today (iOS)

Pixie appInfo

All it took for me to create the account, was an email and a password. (easy!)

Creating an accountCreating a password

And you are in!

This is what you see

There is an energy bar on the upper right side (which replenishes quickly) and is consumed when you put a heartbeat on posts

In this video you see how I posted my first post

It resembles a lot to tiktok, you can upload photos or videos and add tags/location etc.
After that you can create an NFT out of your posts. (I have not done that yet)

One of the things that I did not like was the content.

I saw too many girls dancing around and too much content that I bet does not belong to the users who uploaded it.

But the good thing is that I did see a couple of artists and I also did see good content (even if I had to search for it)

You can download it from here: https://www.pixie.xyz/invitation/p48170528.welcome (Let's see if this ref works) Or just visit the main website and read more before you decide https://www.pixie.xyz !

If you do join, find me at 'katerinaramm' and if you feel like it, connect with me on twitter too!

My honest opinion?

The success of the app, will depend on the users they attract. The team (I could find nothing about the team behind the project) will have to find ways to eliminate spam and to concentrate on good content.
They should bring content creators and influencers so that the app can also be tested with lots of users and lots of interactions. To me, the app seemed fast and easy to use.
But it is the beginning, there are still issues to be resolved.
I could find no way to search by tag, I could not explore posts by theme, I could not find info about how much it will cost me if I wish to create an NFT.

I will wait until PIX gets listed at least in one exchange and during this time I will have a more clear understanding of how it works and the interaction between its users.

What do you think? Would you be eager to try it out? What would urge you to? What would stop you?

Thank you for visiting!
