Kenny's HIVE Hints, Episode 2: Community Contests & Prompts
That's right, we're back for another episode of Kenny's Hive Hints; two in a row! This series is a reboot of my now 4-years-out-of-date series "Kenny's 2 Minutes Steem(it) Tips", in which I tried to cover, all the things I found myself explaining to folks all the time.
This series is basically the same, just fast forward to 2021 and we're on the HIVE fork. Today, we're going to discuss one of the ways that I recommend new users consider, to help them build steam. First, here's the previous episodes in the series, in case you missed them.
Kenny's Hive Hints
- Episode 0: The Key Things to Remember
- Episode 0.5: How Do I Create a HIVE Account?
- Episode 1: Passwords & Private Keys
Episode 2: Community Contests & Prompts
One of the things that can be most challenging in starting off on a platform is building connections, getting followers, when you don't already have an audience that you're bringing over with you.
HIVE offers quite a variety of ways to connect, from communities & games to tags & communities (which function like sub-reddits or FB groups), and various different messaging platforms & specialized front-ends.
One of the best options to start connecting with others, getting inspiration to create, and making some extra crypto is to connect with some of the various HIVE communities through their contests & writing prompts. This is a way to create content you may not have thought of otherwise, a way to get new eyes on your content (who may become new followers), and a way to get some more upvotes and maybe other rewards, as well.
Here are a few regular contests or writing prompts that happen regularly on HIVE:
- @Abundance.Tribe Bi-Weekly Question (most recent)
- @DeepDives Community Research(most recent)
- @EcoTrain Question of the Week (most recent)
- Hive Open Mic (weekly, run by @cabelindsay) (most recent)
- Various @NaturalMedicine contests & community activities (most recent)
- @LadiesofHive Community Contest (most recent)
- @Qurator's Hive Top Chef (most recent)
These are just the few contents/prompts that I know of, a couple of which I discovered while writing this post. There's sure to be more lurking around in the blockchain, and you could start the next great contest! If you didn't know, one of the most beautiful things about voluntary, decentralized spaces is that they leave the space open for anyone to jump in and solve a problem or offer some new way of doing things. HIVE certainly represents that.
