The holiday season is winding down with my vacation being more a working one providing some assistive care to my roommate when needed. I relished the extra ‘Me Time’ in the form of extra sleep and a few casual window-shopping afternoons. If only I could be off another week.

While shop decorations haven’t come down yet I still get that cheerful spirit of optimism that things will pan out despite the gloomy economic picture that is forming in the next year. This private liquor store is doing good business as it has a steady stream of customers file through their front door and they still have the Bitcoin ATM. I picked up a favorite local Pale ale while I was in the area.

Setting the stage.

A Thrift store find is this little wooden knick-knack chest, perfect for select themed coins. I now have a collection of small chests for different coin categories.

@punkysdad is predictable when he called me about pooling a year end order to round out our Stacking goals for 2022. With a spending budget in place, we’d go over our favorite websites picking out the sale items first before selecting out the desired collectables.

We or more I, typically go overboard in the Shopping cart until we start eliminating items from the cart to fit the budget. It’s his way of seeing what I want and gauging my reaction when it gets dumped out of the cart.

He puts the item back in the cart, “This coin reminds me of you twirling your combat spear but not your guitar playing. Merry Christmas Kerris.”

The Re-carted coin is…

At 320 BC, Inspired from Greek geographical literature, Hibernia is the old Latin name of Ireland following the furthest northwest exploration and expanse of the Roman Empire.

Hibernia’s personification or allegory didn’t come about until the 19th century, but it wasn’t originally meant in the true sense of Irish Nationalism but often characterized as a weak and helpless persona always depending upon her much stronger sister Britannia.

History of the Irish under English rule hasn’t been kind up to the 20th century, but it made them for a tough and hardy culture.

My first impression of the Hibernia design had me asking is this a Royal Mint product? The answer is no, as it is a product of the European Mint that have been doing custom private minting and retailing of coins since 2013. And they accept payment in Bitcoin, even Dogecoin!

Continuing along, I can best describe Hibernia as Britannia lite as there are many similarities to her “Stronger Sister.” Though more understated than Britannia, Hibernia can symbolically stand on her own feet while retaining her distinct identity under the United Kingdom.

However, Hibernia's design seems to be lacking an accessory besides her Irish harp. Let me throw up a few options that could jazz her up;

  1. White doves fluttering around her.
  2. A Cornucopia of Shamrocks at her feet.
  3. A two handed sword at her side.
  4. A Louis Vuitton handbag.
  5. A Glock 30SF sidearm.
  6. FN SCAR assault rifle slung over her shoulder.
  7. other ___________ Comment down below.

And I just might forward our ideas to the European mint in the New Year.

“What song will you play on your harp, Hibernia?”

Bonus Coin

When I ordered a Dollar face value in silver coin, I was expecting 10-10 Cent coins. I would expect the 10 Cent to be more useful in a grid down situation, so I was surprised to get a Voyager Dollar.
