Tis the month of Haunting, set your dapp on Night mode if you dare.

As I cut back the sugar in my coffee, I remember getting this Canadian Werewolf $10 coin earlier this Summer when my online retailer knocked a cool $5 off the huge premium and so I saved it for this very month. 👻
The Coin's Story
Apparently, there were colonial French tales of this frightening beast roaming the woodlands of the Great White north. Meanwhile, 1765 France was also in the throes of an alleged Werewolf invasion that gripped the country. A panic driven to extreme levels of public hysteria leading to the unwarranted accusations, murders, and executions of innocent people.

In 1763 New France (Quebec) had changed hands from a French colony unto British rule. By the summer of 1766 and for over a year well into December 1767 the local residents reported a Werewolf roaming various communities all over the province, some alleged attacks and at times cause havoc. They named it the Loup-Garou.
There wasn’t very many details describing this werewolf, it was claimed that the creature took the form of a human beggar at times and others a Wolf-like beast. It would be reasonable to think it being a sickly rabid ravenous wolf or a mad human being with an abnormal abundance of body hair, Hypertrichosis or Werewolf syndrome.
Eventually hunts were organized to deal with it. The last confrontation with the beast was reported on December 11th of 1767 and the creature hasn’t been seen since.

The Grey Wolf
Next, is one of a favorite Canadian series, the Grey wolf on ¾ Troy oz. Bullion size only. I did show this on a previous old post in a different context but always worth featuring this personal favorite of mine with a big full moon as the background.

Canada has a whole slew of Wolf coins portrayed on various denominations of coins such as the 1967 Centennial Wolf or the various bullion varieties of the howling Grey wolf. We Canadians love our natural wildlife but for the sake of not wandering off the Halloween theme. I’ll keep the numbers limited to my bullion at hand.

An older piece going way back.

In January of 2020 Atlantis Mint closed it’s doors. The website was still live for some time and continued processing orders but there was no feedback to confirm orders or shipping status. Cody is the front person on this family-owned business out of Parsonsburg Maryland, that was among the first poured silver bullion products I have ever purchased.
As to the cause of the business closure we still don't know. I could venture a guess of poor hedging of their bulk silver purchasing, where a few similar businesses had failed on that practice.
However, Atlantis mint products continue to see some circulation in the secondary market.
