”Blackbirds tend to like shiny things.” ~ The Bloody Raven

Upon entering the ST BEE’E SILVER website you can’t help but feast your eyes upon what is St Bee’s flagship product, the Honey Bars. If you are a hardcore loyal Hive blogger, crazy for unique silver bars, like bees, and has spare cash looking for something super shiny. St. Bee’s just may have the ultimate HIVE silver bar for you!

Regrettably, I don’t have one of these shiny honey-combed bars yet. St Bee’s is another fine silver artist out of the United Kingdom and has an accomplished portfolio of creations and artistic style before I was aware of his products, until Nyssacat 💋 gave me a small sample of these fractional silver to examine.

Under the Gothic Category…

Wow, I like this. It’s almost symbolic of some mysterious fictional Victorian cult society. The kind of fictional occult horror literature that began and flourished in the Victorian era by writers such as Bram Stoker and Mary Shelley.

I don’t know where St Bee’s drew his inspiration for this design, but I love it! A silver round with Gothic horror elements that comes right out of the story pages of The Masquerade Vampire world.

So, if you’re still under the assumption that silver is a Vampire deterrent, think nevermore, according to Vampire Canon, silver does not affect Vampires but rather the Lycaninus (Werewolves).

Spanish or English treasure?

Very little information was upfront regarding the designs were available on either IG or the Website, it’s as if they/he/she wants the customer to guess! As a collector of replica and fantasy pirate silver, I love to guess.

This Shipwreck series Galleon coin apparently draws its inspiration from the 16th century Spanish Reale characterized by the Iconic Jerusalem cross which was also used by the Portuguese as early as the late 14th century. But hold on.

I believe this is more based on the Cross of England , for argument’s sake, let’s say…. of St George and therefore more of older pre-1400s England. We silver pirates should also keep in mind that England have used the Spanish styled Carrack, Caravels and Galleon designs in her navy for years before the more contemporary Bark/Barque sailing ship design. The famous Golden Hind was an example of an English Galleon.

The hammered coin configuration along with design elements are consistent of English money between 700-900 AD.
The Celtic styled back further implies that we are dealing with Old English treasure rather than Spanish treasure. Cool, just check out Numista England. What do you think? Am I on the right track or am I up river without a paddle?

And the Hammered Cob replica?

I could not find this next piece listed on St Bee’s Instagram nor archived on the Website. Therefore, it may just be a spurious product for promotional purposes like a Giveaway piece or one of those clever items you impulsively add to the cart at the Check Out.

St Bee’s does offer Hallmarking on their products, a nice feature giving added value that portends a traditional authenticity to the product. Registration is processed at the Edinburgh Assay office, though Hallmarking is already with done with most of St Bee’s works it is interesting to note that the products can be available without it.

Though these fractional silvers don’t have the Hallmarking for their relative value, I would think it much more justified for their larger silver products.

One of these days I'll figure what these Latin abbreviations mean.🤔

On the Instagram page, the 20g version of this cob does come with the SBS maker’s mark.

The Website is slick but most of the action is on Instagram, you can peruse over most of the beautiful creations of St Bee’s, some selling before they could make it to the website, experimental opinion pieces, one-offs, and so on but I’m still thinking of a cool Honey Bar.

And, Happy Hive Powerup Day friends!
