Yesterday I got a notification from @hivebuzz and it was a reminder of my two years anniversary of being on hive and all I could say is that time flies when you are doing what you love.

Now, in reality, I haven’t been here for two years, I joined hive two years ago when I met @bhoa and after writing a few articles, I felt like I couldn’t keep up and I left for a year; mainly because I was battling with depression. During this time, I did so many jobs; quit some in days, I stopped writing in general and my life was void of color which prompted me to come back here.

My goal coming back to hive was a place to express myself, and express have I over the past year.

I can’t even speak of how many times hive has saved me both mentally and financially, it is crazy how hive has been my only source of income for the past 10 months after quitting my last job.

I feel like I should say a bit of what hive has done for me just for newbies to know how life changing it can be so, what has hive done for me?

WHAT HAS HIVE DONE IN THE PAST YEAR?

Hive has done a lot in my life if I am being honest and I can’t say all but here’s a bit;

  1. Prompted me to know what financial freedom could be.
  2. Made me chase my dreams; one step closer to be a front end developer.
  3. Given a place to express and build on different skills.
  4. Joining the newbies initiative made me meet amazing individuals like @starstrings01, @deraaa, @iskafan etc
  5. Helped my financial goals and gave me means to work towards them.
  6. Gave me access to wonderful communities like the hive open mic and dreemport
  7. Gotten me new gadgets which I didn’t think I could afford at the point where I was.

There are so much more and if I continue we wouldn’t leave here so I’ll stop here, but wait before I go, I feel like I should give tips to a newbie who might need it.

TIPS TO NEWBIES

First of all, when I came back to hive I was in a reputation of 49 and now I am 69, it has taken a lot of commitment and consistency, I have written every single day for the past year through sickness, events, and hard days.

How did I do that? Well, I made a lot of research, I capitalized on my passions and knowledge, I learned about new topics and on days that I didn't feel like writing, I found a loophole through photography and prompts.

Also, for my growth, I made sure to read, engage, form meaningful relationships and put my all, even on bad weeks where there were no upvotes.

I guess in reality, my advice is to take hive as an outlet, enjoy it, and give your best.

FINALLY

I have had a great time here and I pray to have many more years where I’ll go back and see so much growth.

Thank you to everyone who has added to my growth here on hive, I am grateful.
