Cryptocurrency is as Valuable as Fiat Money; Earn, Spend and Invest
My kid brother asked what I will do with all the Hive and HBD I keep claiming in my wallet. This he asked because he thinks hive is one of those fake tokens we claim when we play word games in out phones. I know he has a little knowledge about cryptocurrency but all he knows is Bitcoin, DOGE, Ethereum, pi and SHIB coins. Those are the coins I hear him talk about - investing, and mining. It surprises me that in all he claims he's researching about cryptocurrency, that he hasn't heard about Hive.
I decided to reflect on what we do with money so I can compare to what we do with Hive, HBD, LEO, SPS and other tokens we earn on hive and I conclude that our interactions with money revolves around three things - earning, spending and investing.
Earn Money versus Earn Crypto
Growing up, all I knew about earning money was that you need to sell goods, offer a service or get employed somewhere. Joining Hive, the narrative changed. I discovered we can do very many things to earn money including socializing like we do here. My posts are no products to be bought by any and are not services, except where I make a guide post or a DIY. My posts are basically my thoughts I could share on any social space or discuss with a friend. My experiences (good and challenging) as well as opinions and expectations.
Today, I earn $Hive $HBD $LEO, $GLX $SPS $CENT and many more tokens on daily basis from my social contents and gaming on hive blockchain. Growing my Hive Power o near 500 is a big thing alongside other tokens in liquid form.
I know there are other users that earn cryptocurrencies here on hive through their art skills, programming skills and many other activities here.
Spend Money versus Spend Crypto
How to spend your crypto has been the major concern of many. Some platforms offer juicy was to earn their crypto but there are no where to spend them. It is basic that we can trade our crypto into fiat, but more importantly if we can use it directly to access goods and services we need.
I have used my cryptocurrencies (Hive, HBD, others) to buy airtime, data and games such as the splinterlands spellbook. I have purchased NFTs and other digital products.
I have also discovered Hive-shop where one can buy clothing and other physical products with your Hive HBD and SWAP.HIVE.
The beautiful t-shirt pictured above costs $23 with $12 shipping fee. All of that can be paid for with 35 HBD. That is a beautiful way to spend our cryptocurrencies here on Hive.
I believe there are several other ways to spend our cryptos on real products that I am yet to know about.
Invest Money versus Invest Crypto
In addition to earning and spending our crypto, we also invest it. I am happy that I learned this aspect on interacting with my cryptocurrencies on Hive and it pays out big.
My first investment was buying and staking CENT tokens and using it for curation. The yield is pretty good. I later ventured into SPS staking which gives me SPS and GLX rewards.
I have delegated my Hive power to @leo.voter to receive $LEO token everyday at about 16% APY.
One of my big investments is the GLX staking. The price of GLX looks creepy presentl, ut I know I have sunk in some value there and looking to the future when the returns would start coming. 143% APY looks good but I know it will be better when the price of GLX flips.
I can boldly say that cryptocurrency is as valuable as fiat money and even more. I can earn it, spend it and invest it. I can even save it as in the case of HBD savings with 20% APY returns.
