Welcome back to Crypto Noobs!

It's the most popular crypto educational series on the blockchain! Not really. Maybe. Who knows. We like to have fun here. If you've never read a Crypto Noobs post, it's a series where I show people how to do different things with cryptocurrency and blockchain. I'm just a regular dude that admittedly smokes too much and likes to be a complete degenerate with crypto. I'm no expert, I just like to spread knowledge. In the last issue, we talked about some of the easiest ways to move funds between Hive, Polygon, and BNB Chain. I know that I've seen different posts about how to earn passive income with Splinterlands, but a refresher is never a bad thing. Maybe you'll learn something! Maybe not. Either way, enjoy!

Splinterlands Passive Income

I don't know about you, but I was definitely not early to the party on Splinterlands. I played a tiny bit way back in the day when it was called Steem Monsters and never really got into it. I started actually playing more around the time that the SPS airdrop started but slowly my life got more busy. Now I barely have free time to play games, and when I do it's usually on the weekends when I play Gods Unchained. I admit, it's been about 2 months since I've been able to sit down and really play Splinterlands so I figured... Why not test out the rental market. I have a few cards laying around collecting virtual dust so what not get a little bit of passive income out of them? I had never really tried it and the UI for rentals can be a little confusing for a newbie so I thought I'd share how to do it and my experience for anyone that might not know. Let's dive in!

Step 1: Head over to PeakMonsters and log in however you normally log into Splinterlands.

Most people probably use Hive keychain, and I highly recommend it as it's the easiest way to log into most Hive apps.

Step 2: Once logged in, click the My Cards tab.

Here you can click the checkbox next to each individual card you want to rent out, or you can click Select All if you want to rent out all of them.

Step 3: With cards selected, click the little button in the top right corner that looks like a stack of cards.

It's to the left of your account name and will have a blue bubble with the number of cards you selected on it.

Step 4: Click the purple Rent button.

This will take you to a page that allows you to set the rental price for each card individually. Don't worry, you would have to enter 100 different prices manually unless you just want to.

Step 5: Scroll to the bottom of that page, and click the load button next to "Set lowest market price".

This will autofill the lowest market rental rate for each card and you can edit them if you want to. For me, I didn't really care as I don't have any super rare cards or anything like that. I just wanted to bulk rent them out at the lowest price so they get rented faster.

Step 6: Once you've loaded the market prices, take a scroll through the list and make any adjustments you want. Then scroll to the bottom and click Confirm.

That was super easy, right?

Now your cards that were sitting doing nothing will be on the rental market for anyone to use and you will earn DEC every day based on which cards and how long they're rented out for. For me, it's almost nothing but stacking up free DEC can't be a bad thing. I'm all about some free crypto and it doesn't get much easier than this. It's kinda like staking. Set it and forget it. See you guys in the next one! Let me know if you have any questions or comments down below!

Thanks for reading! Much love.
