Hey there guys!

Welcome back to Crypto Noobs, the series that I'm writing in hopes of helping lesser experienced people use different blockchains, crypto, etc... I am just a regular ass dude that would never claim to be an expert, but I do have experience with a lot of different crypto related things. Anyway, in the last Crypto Noobs, I showed you how easy it is to move funds from the Wax blockchain to Hive Engine so if that sounds interesting please check it out here. So today, we're going to look at moving funds from the xDai blockchain to Binance Smart Chain for use in dapps or games such as Crypto Blades or Splinterlands.

Let's jump right into it.

So, if you're into experimenting with different cryptocurrencies and blockchains, you might have some xDai. You might want to use that xDai to buy some Splinterlands packs or whatever. So here's how you can do just that. xDai has bridges to both Ethereum and Binance Smart chain via OmniBridge. It also has a Polygon bridge, but we'll talk about that in another episode. I'll also preface this by saying there may be an easier way or other ways. This one was just the easiest for me.

OmniBridge is pretty awesome. You can see the features here, and one that stands out to me the most is setting a different address to send the bridged asset to. Extremely useful if you use multiple wallets and want to save on gas fees.

Step 1:

I'll go ahead and assume that you already have Metamask at this point since you're using xDai. First we need to swap some xDai for WBNB so head to Honeyswap here.

Step 2:

Click the drop down menu and search for WBNB, or Wrapped BNB. Enter however much xDai you would like to swap. You may have to do an Approve before you're able to swap.

Step 3:

Switch to Binance Smart Chain in Metamask. If you don't already have it, I have a guide on adding BSC to Metamask here.

Step 4:

Add WBNB to Metamask if it did not show up under assets. Click add token, and paste the contract address 0xbb4cdb9cbd36b01bd1cbaebf2de08d9173bc095c. I obtained the token contract address from CoinGecko so feel free to go there and copy/paste as well.

Step 5:

Click add token, and then add asset. You should now see your WBNB in Metamask.

Step 6:

Step 4 and 5 are kind optional, but it's nice to be able to see your assets. Anyway, head over to OmniBridge so we can now move the WBNB from the xDai chain to BSC. You can get there here.

Step 7:

Once you're there, click the drop down menu in the top right and switch it to BSC - xDai. Then select WBNB from the drop down under xDai Chain.

Step 8:

Enter whatever amount of WBNB you want to move to BSC, and clock unlock. Confirm the transaction and then hit transfer. This will bridge the WBNB you had on xDai to BSC. Now we need to unwrap it

Step 9:

Head to Pancakswap here and select WBNB to BNB. It will have an Unwrap button instead of Swap. Click that and voila, you have moved funds from xDai to BSC and now have BNB to use for dapps!

Thanks for reading!

Peace.
