EVMOS

Honestly, I have ignored EVMOS and the entire Cosmos ecosystem for too long. Seeing other talk about it and all the cool things being developed is pretty cool. I don't know shit about EVMOS because I haven't really done the research so I won't try to explain it or any of that. Maybe that will be for another post. This is just me sharing my experience using it for the first time.

The reason I ended up finally taking the dive into EVMOS is a post I saw recently by @xabi about compounding your EVMOS staking rewards. On this post, he talked about an airdrop that I remember reading about quite some time ago. It's the absolute last day, so I'm doing this true to my fashion of getting things done.

I'm not sure the exact criteria for being eligible for said airdrop, but I went ahead and just started checking random addresses on the EVMOS website. What I learned pretty quickly is that you're going to need Keplr wallet, which supports Ethereum and EVMOS/Cosmos. Once downloaded, import your Ethereum recovery phrase.

Once your wallet is connected via Keplr... Head to the Claim Rektdrop page. You'll have to perform a few actions and just like any blockchain, you're probably expecting to pay some gas fees. To my surprise, there are no gas fees. Just sign the transactions and be on your merry way.

Vote on a random governance proposal, like the one about the mainnet upgrade. Then Execute and IBC transfer, which again just requires signing some transactions, and then Stake some tokens. I staked them all because YOLO and I feel like the price per token is pretty low.

I think you earn a decent yield according to the post mentioned above. I think this is the right way to do an airdrop. Make the people get familiar with using your chain or application in order to get the tokens. Offer incentive for interactions. It's not rocket science. I just delegated to a random validator in the top few.

The last thing to do after staking is using an EVMOS application. It took me a second to find something to use. I ended up using SpaceSwap to swap 1 of these free tokens for some USDC just to qualify. I have to say - using this chain is extremely pleasant.

Instant transactions and zero fees. Me likes. I just wonder about the security and such. I'm definitely going to be doing some research. It's amazing to me to be able to use your Ethereum wallet and get started with zero bridging or buying tokens for gas. I love it.

This is definitely scalable. After doing a swap via SpaceSwap, I received the last 25% of my airdrop. Then I delegated all of it. Time to check the rest of my wallets! Happy Independence day!

Thanks for reading! Much love.
