Verified NFT Profile Pics - Live on Twitter Blue!
What a crazy day for NFTs as a whole. Earlier today, I wrote a post about WAX doing the largest NFT airdrop in history and then I saw a Twitter post that caught my eye. The tweet came straight from Twitter themselves on the Twitter Blue account. NFT PFPs are here.
NFT Profile Pics
The Twitter Blue account tweeted earlier that you can now link your Ethereum wallet and display your NFTs from your collection as a profile pic. Everyone was already doing this but without verification. So if I were so inclined, I could right click, save as a Bored Ape Yacht club NFT and slap it on my profile as my profile picture. Obviously this doesn't prove that I own it because there is no actual verification from the platform that I own it. Instead of just showing your NFT in the circular avatar frame, these verified NFTs from your wallet will show up as a hexagon instead of a regular circular avatar. In order to take advantage of this cool new feature to display your NFT as a profile pic, you'll need to subscribe to Twitter Blue at $2.99/month. You'll get all the latest features and more with the subscription.
Along with this pop-up in the app, they tweeted out 2 videos to promote this new feature. The first of the tweets is a video showing how to connect your wallet and set an NFT as your profile picture. The second is more of a promotional video that will surely get you excited. Or just confuse you lol. As shown in the instruction video - it's very simple. Just go to edit Profile, tap your profile pic, and select "Choose NFT". You'll then connect your wallet, whether it be Metamask or Ledger Live, and select the NFT. That's it!

The second of the 2 tweets is a promotional video like I said. It shows NFT profile pics as people' faces and features Bored Ape Yacht Club and Crypto Punks. We asked for this, and they built it. Now we just need to annoy them until they add multiple blockchain support instead of just Ethereum. I really want to be able to see WAX NFTs as profile pics next. Since, you know, WAX is the best blockchain for NFTs.

Right now this feature is only available to iOS users who subscribe to Twitter Blue, but I'm sure Android support isn't far off. The Twitter thread with this promotional video is filled with hate. There's so many people on there talkin about how bad NFTs are and how they're killing the environment. These people obviously haven't heard of WAX blockchain, which is carbon neutral and nearly free to use. Someone even dropped this little gem in the midst of the hate and it made me giggle.
Most of the hate stems from people crying about NFTs having a huge carbon footprint. Sorry, but not every NFT is built on Ethereum and requires proof of work mining. If you're crying and hating on them for this reason, you should do a little bit of research. Not every blockchain is built the same. Not every blockchain kills the environment with mining rigs. You people are literally just looking for reasons to hate NFTs because you either a) don't understand the value in them or b) refuse to accept that NFTs can solve a lot of problems. You ever eaten a steak before? How about flown on a plane? Talk about huge carbon footprints... Fuckin idiots. Ok, I'll stop ranting now lol. What are your thoughts?
