AMA

That's another title, right?. An ama ... I'm sure you've seen the concept passing by many times now. Doing an AMA is becoming increasingly popular, and we also see various AMAs here on the Hive Blockchain. The Leo team keeps an AMA every week, Splijndlands keeps an AMA every week and there are probably more AMAs from Tribes on the Hive Blockchain. These AMAs are not only becoming popular at Hive Blockchain. But are very much held by teams of crypto projects. So time to dive in it. Because what is about AMA now?

What is a crypto Ama?

An AMA is the international abbreviation for Ask Me Antyhing. These AMAs are not new, but have an advance by the increasing interest of Crypto at macro level. We must not forget that the crypto technology is still new in general, but that it is also developing rapidly at the same time. As a young investor, it can therefore be difficult to separate the wheat from the chaff, purely based on their white paper.

The importance of an AMA in Crypto

Before a massive adoption can exist, it is important that you understand where the protocol stands and what changes they want to bring. When investigating a project, the technical terms are hurled around the ears and there is a possibility that you have no idea why project X is better than Project Y.

An AMA is therefore part of a marketing strategy, taking advice to the investor to convince them from their project. Where the starting investor has rather basic questions, an experienced investor may have very technical questions. The chance that one of them does not invest on the basis of the answer to his or her question is very real.

Why an Ama crypto?

An AMA is not held because the team is bored or has too much time. It is a deliberate choice that contributes to the positioning of the project in the wild west of the crypto ecosystem.

  • Marketing How else can you give a new project a good boost by organizing an international AMA? It is also not surprising that AMA is sometimes appointed as an 'ASK marketing anything'. The fact that more and more projects are added daily, makes it more difficult to really make the difference for a potential investor. By holding an AMA, you give a clear signal that you are open to all questions and comments from the community. In addition to the whitepaper, this moment is an important moment for many investors where they decrease the knot whether or not they invest.

Although every AMA is different, we often see that the team gives away at the end of this AMA free tokens. How? By having the community executed extra promotion on social media or they determine this on the basis of the best question that has been counted, during the AMA. For example, an AMA is a win-win situation in which the team enters into the commitment with the community and wherein they pass the community across the line to invest in their project.

  • Transparency A roadmap is often a summary of ideal scenarios and developments, which will perform the team somewhere in the future. Often these expressions are too vague and does not really create the trust of the community. As an investor you naturally want to know what to happen for developments and when so that you prefer to anticipate this too. An AMA is therefore the appropriate time to be transparent to your community, so that there is clarity. Only when there is clear and clear communication, you win the jurisdiction of the community.

  • To trust A crypto project stands or falls with confidence. Have you sunset a new project, but don't you have a faith of the community, or does anyone believe in the project? Then the chance is also very small that the project has a chance of success. An AMA is therefore a moment where the team will expose the team to fully rely on the community and convince them that they can really make the difference.

  • Community The basis of crypto is of course the community. The development of a community is already starting for the official launch of the project. If we look at AIRDROPS or Inital Coins offerings (ICOs), we already see how important it is to have a powerful marketing strategy to build a solid community. Why? When you have a very clear message and objective, it is easy to understand for your community. They will then in turn transfer the message if they agree with your goals.

How is an AMA held?

An AMA takes place at a fixed moment. A few weeks prior to the AMA there will be announced that an AMA will take place. The team also proclaims how everyone can attend it. Sometimes it happens that the protocol asks in advance to submit questions so that they can also be prepared. Others do the AMA without knowing what questions they get.

An AMA can best be an impressive activity. They are held through different chat channels, where all those present can anticipate what is being said. In practice, some chat function are temporarily blocked to save order in the chaos. After the explanation, if the time permits, other attendees will also have the time to ask questions.

Part of the marketing strategy is to promote the protocol on all types of social media. This AMA often happens on one of these channels. I discuss two channels here that are most often used and why.

Discord

Discord is designed as an interactive tool where gamers can communicate with each other during the game. In a very short time, Discord has proven its usefulness, and it didn't take long before Crypto also went to use discord. It is therefore not unusual that every crypto project has its own discord channel. These discord channels are often promoted at an AIRDROP, where you have a chance of free tokens when you sign up with their channel.

  • Pro's Discord has a well-arranged interface where you can apply an effective structure as a team. Hereby you can only give certain members access to certain subchannels to set order. In addition to loving an AMA, this discord can be used to share further developments with investors, but also keep the conversation open.

  • Cons As an investor you want to have a good risk management and this often means that you are investing in various projects. If you have to join any individual discord channel, it can just happen that you are in no-time member of superfluous channels and that you lose structure. Of course you want to prevent someone from no longer seeing the trees through the forest. Therefore, determine which reports you want or do not want.

Telegram

Telegram is a free platform for sending messages, just like WhatsApp. Despite the popularity of WhatsApp, Telegram is a more used medium for AMAs. Here the Pro's and Cons!

  • Pro's Telegram uses different channels. These channels can be seen as individual chat messages, but also as groups of different cryptop projects. Through this way, you always stay informed of the latest developments while you also chat with your friends. These channels can be public, but also private.

Similar to the channels are the groups. Here, everyone can participate in the conversation, unlike the channels. For crypto, a channel is therefore used in which you can anticipate in the call. These functions are managed by the team. These channels are therefore opened during an AMA so that all questions can be asked to the team.

  • Cons A disadvantage of Telegram is that it can quickly be an overload of information when these channels are open to everyone. It therefore regularly happens, certainly in young projects where everyone can enter into the interaction, that there is a thousand reports at a very short time. The chance that you will read all these unread messages in hoping to new information, is probably pretty small. That is why good regulation of the canal is important by the team.

Conclusion

We now see that AMAs are being done by various projects to open up the dialogue with their community. This also happens on a regular basis and is not so much bound with the launch of a project. It is also often done as a way to keep the community informed on a regular basis. We see that mainly here at the Hive Blockchain with the AMAs of Leofinance and Splinterlands. These AMAs are more to stay in conversation and contact with the communities.

But nevertheless, for new people, these are also very important moments. Because here they can get a good idea of how active the community is and how active the team works on their product.

As an investor, you sometimes no longer see the trees through the forest, and you have no idea what is really a good crypto project. That is why more and more investments are made in marketing, to position a new protocol as well as possible in this young, but quickly changing cryptomarkt. It is also not surprising that an AMA is sometimes also appointed as Ask Marketing Anything.

The market sentiment is often determined by the community. A solid community is central to the further development of a project, and to achieve this it is important for the team to enter into the dialogue. This is therefore actively done by this popular AMAs via different channels. Which this is depends on the team itself. Discord and telegram are commonly used channels for this Ask Me Anythings.
