The amount of money one earns off an asset in one years. This could be from a bank account, bonds, cryptocurrency, or securities that provide a yield.
It is similar to annual percentage yield (APR) except that APY includes compounding.
Essentially, APY factors the interest on the interest paid throughout the year.
