A market which trades futures contracts. This can be for commodities, stock indexes, currencies, interest rates, and other assets.
Some of the commodities traded are:
Businesses turn to the futures market to lock in prices on the commodities they need to run their operations. For example, airlines are often involved in the purchasing of future contracts on fuel as a way to establish a set price for what they will be using in the future.
CME Group is the largest futures exchange.
