Acronym for Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey
A monthly report put out by the Bureau of Labor Statistics counting the number of jobs vacant. This includes the number of workers who are voluntarily quitting.
It is surveys over 20,000 business and government offices to estimate the supply of jobs along with the hiring and separations of workers. It is used as a barometer as to the unmet jobs in the economy. Many also feel it is a compliment to the unemployment survey that is conducted.
