Mt. Gox was a Bitcoin exchange that collapsed in January 2014. It was reported that 850,000 Bitcoin were lost although many speculate it started being removed from the exchange as early as 2011.
The CEO of the company, Mark Karpeles was charged with embezzlement in 2017 but was acquitted in 2019.
It was based in Tokyo, Japan.
