The ISO 4217 code for the United States dollar. It is the world's reserve currency.
USD monetary policy is set by the Federal Reserve and produced by the commercial banks via loans.
On exchanges, within FOREX, USD is how the dollar is symbolized. It is then paired against other currencies. In the FOREX market, the *USD accounts for roughly 88% of the trading pairs.
The US dollar is recognized as the global reserve currency.
