🤗 | ¡Hola, hola, Hivers! | Hi, hello, Hivers! | 🤗

Welcome back to the part 2 of my experience learning about #leofinance

In this post I will be sharing what I learned in Module 2 of Fundamentals of Blockchain Technology a course taught by the Pontificia Universidad JaverianaX in Bogota through the website learning.edx.org

In the first part, we learned about history of money and about the beginnigins of bitcoin. This time we will learn about Bitcoin

Some time ago, around 1980, there was something known as the *"Cypherpunk Movement" which consisted of a group of people who demanded privacy in their transactions and decided to join forces to fight against repressive states and spy governments.

These ideals are summarized in the Cypherpunk Manifesto published by Eric Hughes in 1993. This movement defends privacy as an essential element of a free society and also distinguishes between the right to privacy and secrecy.

So this is te beginning of the first private cryptocurrencies.

In 1983, David Chaum designed the e-cash as a digital currency, allowing private transactions, sadly it went bankrupt in 1998.

In 1997. Adam Back proposed a digital money system called Hascash, which aimed to prevent spam emails.

In 1998, Wei Dai proposed the creation of an anonymous distributed electronic money system, called b-money, although it was not carried out, it left many lessons for later cryptocurrencies.

In 2005, Nick Szabo proposed in a paper the creation of BitGold, a decentralized system that used cryptography, proof of work, timestamps and digital signatures for its operation. Although it was not implemented it is considered one of the most important precursors of bitcoin.

• Finally, on October 31, 2008 an individual or a group of individuals identified by the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto shared the whitepaper of bitcoin on a cryptocurrency mailing list.

About the paper, the objective was to create a system that would allow the transfer of value from one person to another without the need to resort to an intermediary. It decentralizes and creates a blockchain with information that cannot be changed about the transactions that have been made in that system.

In the document, presents the problems and the importance of having a payment system that works on the Internet and without the intervention of third parties, since this generates uncertainty and costs.

It explains how transactions work within this decentralized network, where I am not going to explain so much now, and how they are recorded in a distributed database with a time stamp.

Finally, it describes the privacy generated in this network by allowing users to generate pseudonyms to store and transfer their bitcoins.

As we can see what is common to all cryptocurrency systems is cryptography, as its main function is to maintain the privacy of your information and communications. .

Its etymology comes from the combination of the Greek words κρύπτos (kryptós), meaning 'hidden', and γραφή (graphé), meaning 'writing'. That is, it literally means 'hidden writing'. .

From the beginning, this was used by ancient civilizations to send secret messages without these being understood by third parties. .

Although there are several methods and tools to encrypt messages, there are some cryptographic standards used to encrypt digital information.
.

One of the best known is the *SHA256 algorithm, designed by the U.S. National Security Agency and used by Satoshi Nakamoto in the creation of bitcoin. .

Using this algorithm, any digital information can be encrypted to obtain as a result a hash (a series of characters) of 256 bits in length or 64 digits, using hexadecimal representation.
