End of season considerations + my end of season reward

* Today, August 31, 2021, another season of Splinterlands came to an end. I've been a Splinterlands player for over 22 months and the one just ended is my 46th season of Splinterlands.

I enjoy playing Splinterlands, I enjoy writing Splinterlands-related posts, and I enjoy sharing my goals and progress within the game.

My end of season goal

Yesterday I published a post in which I shared my end of season goal and my end of season strategy which is based on renting cards in the last two days before the end of the season.

**

Link:

The goal I had set for myself was the Champion III league. Twelve hours before the end of the season I was in the Diamond III league and had a rating score of 2986 points and a power score of 250710** points.

To try to reach my goal I needed to increase my power score and for this reason I rented 17 cards from the Splinterlands market and for the rental I used the useful Peakmonsters site (https://peakmonsters.com/).

Initially I rented only 10 cards to which I later added another 7 cards that I found at rental costs that I deemed affordable.

In the following list you can see all the cards I rented (rental duration 1 day):

  1. Archmage Arius Level 4
  2. Alric Stormbringer Level 8
  3. Elemental Phoenix Level 3
  4. Khmer Princess Level 8
  5. Delwyn Dragonscale Level 10
  6. Enchanted Pixie Level 8
  7. Cerberus Level 8
  8. Spineback Turtle Level 9
  9. Elven Cutthroat Level 8
  10. Albatross Level 7
  11. Orc Sergeant Level 6
  12. The Kraken Level 4
  13. Earth Elemental Level 8
  14. Hydra Level 4
  15. Lord Arianthus Level 4
  16. Kobold Miner Level 8
  17. Diamond Dragon Level 4

The total cost I incurred to rent the 17 cards I listed above was 1707.54 DEC tokens. Today, August 31, 2021, 1707.54 DEC tokens have a value of $12.86.

I spent $12.86 to increase my Power score by +162138 points.

Since I did not raise my power score above 500000 points it is evident that....

Goal Not Reached!

I knew that reaching the Champion III league would not be easy at all because, due to work commitments, I had little time to dedicate to Splinterlands and above all I applied my end-of-season rental strategy only 12 hours before the end of the season instead of starting earlier.

In previous seasons where I have achieved my goal, I have always started my rental activity with 47 hours to spare before the end of the season. Renting cards for more than two days I do not consider it worthwhile to attempt to climb at least three leagues due to the rental costs that may exceed the value of the end of season reward. Renting cards for just one day is not as convenient because, even if the rental cost is lower, climbing up the leagues becomes more and more difficult because of the "bottleneck" effect that I explained in detail some time ago in the following post:

Link:

Renting cards for two days I think is the best choice and in fact I achieved my goal exclusively in this situation.

Note: Considerations about the rental business and my end-of-season strategy are from my own experience and apply to those in more or less my situation:

  • **collection power: 200000-300000 points
  • starting from Gold I-II or Diamond III** league (two days before the end of the season).

Statistics and Considerations

I finished the season in the **Diamond II league and was ranked #594 in the Diamond rankings with a rating of 3028 points.

In the previous season I left for a vacation on the last day of the season of Splinterlands and for this reason I didn't play and I didn't rent cards but I obtained a better ranking (486) because I played more in the previous days.

During the season just ended I completed 312 battles (34 less than the previous season) and I got a winrate of 50.64%.

I'm not satisfied with my game results but I also know why and so next season, commitments permitting, I will start applying my rental strategy 47 hours before the end of the season.

New Season and New Mechanism for awarding end of season rewards

I don't know if you read @splinterlands' post announcing the change in the end-of-season rewards award mechanism. If you haven't read it, I'll update you ;)

Until now, only the maximum rating reached by a player during the season counted for the end of season rewards. This season, for the attribution of the end of season reward, only the status of the player (power score and rating score) at the exact moment in which the season ends will count.

For example, if a player on any day before the end of the season exceeds 3700 rating points (Champion III league access requirement) but at the time of the end of the season has a rating score of 3600 points, he will no longer receive the reward due to those who reached Champion III league (80 chests) but will only receive 60 chests (Diamond I league reward).

Therefore, if before today, August 31, 2021, the maximum rating score reached during the whole season counts, from now on only the rating score at the end of the season will count for the allocation of the number of chests of the end-of-season reward.

Let's see now the economic side of the season just ended with the calculation of the total value of the end of season reward I received.

*

My end of season reward

As a reward for finishing the season in Diamond II league I received 50 chests**.

In the following image you can see the cards I found inside the chests.

I found 7 cards out of 50 chests. Chests can hold three types of rewards: Cards, DEC, Potions. The probability of finding a card in each chest is exactly 1/3, so I found a below average number of cards compared to the probability (50/3= 16.6).

I found:

  • 7 common cards

The most valuable card I found inside the chests was the Nightmare common card of the death element which has a market value of $0.30 and has a DEC conversion value of 10.

The total value of the cards I found inside the chests is **1,676$

DEC and Potions

As you can see from the following three images, I also found 17 Potions (6 legendary potions and 11 alchemical potions) and a total of 5259 DEC tokens**.

Based on the current value of DEC tokens (August 31, 2021), 5259 DEC tokens equals the value of 70.73 HIVE (Highest BID on LeoDex/HiveEngine/TribalDex)

The dollar value of 5259 DEC tokens is $39.61.

Now I'm going to do some calculations to determine the total value of my seasonal reward net of the rental costs I incurred:

  • total card rental cost: **-12.86 $
  • total value of cards found in chests: 1.676 $
  • total value of DEC tokens found in chests: 39.61 $**

In the season just ended, I made a profit of - $12.86 + $1,676 + $39.61 = +28.426 $.

Card purchase and rental prices have increased from the previous season, but even though I spent $12.86 on card rentals, I made a nice profit of +$28.42.

In this calculation I didn't take into account the DEC tokens I earned from the battle victories I got after renting the cards during the last day of the season, but they fully covered the cost of the rental.

Mi piace giocare a Splinterlands, mi piace scrivere post inerenti a Splinterlands e mi piace condividere i miei obbiettivi e i miei progressi all'interno del gioco.

  1. Archmage Arius Level 4
  2. Alric Stormbringer Level 8
  3. Elemental Phoenix Level 3
  4. Khmer Princess Level 8
  5. Delwyn Dragonscale Level 10
  6. Enchanted Pixie Level 8
  7. Cerberus Level 8
  8. Spineback Turtle Level 9
  9. Elven Cutthroat Level 8
  10. Albatross Level 7
  11. Orc Sergeant Level 6
  12. The Kraken Level 4
  13. Earth Elemental Level 8
  14. Hydra Level 4
  15. Lord Arianthus Level 4
  16. Kobold Miner Level 8
  17. Diamond Dragon Level 4

  • costo totale noleggio carte: **-12.86 $
