My Splinterlands Investment: Profit, ROI and Considerations 31 Months Later
Today I took a step back in time and scrolling through my Hive Blog I went back to October 25, 2019 the day I published my first post inherent to Splinterlands.

A week before I wrote that post, on October 18, 2019, I had registered on Splinterlands and bought the Starter Set, that's what the current Summoner's Spellbook was called. After a week of battling and having fun, I decided to write my first Splinterlands post in which I posed the question: Splinterlands: Is it a game or an investment? After making calculations and predictions about possible gains the conclusion I had come to and with which I ended the post was as follows:
Splinterlands is a beautiful game but it is above all a very good investment.... Obviously I do not have a crystal ball but in my opinion it is a game/investment that can still grow a lot.
After that first post my passion for Splinterlands grew more and more as did my passion for Hive and as did my desire to write and publish content related to Splinterlands. To date I have published many posts with the tag Splinterlands and today's is my post number 296.
Since I started my gaming/investing adventure on Splinterlands I have almost always published a financial report on a monthly basis and today I continue this fun habit with the financial analysis of my investment on Splinterlands after 31 months and 19 days since my registration.

The starting point of each of my financial reports on Splinterlands is the result I recorded in my report mensile precedente, a report I published on April 20, 2022, 47 days ago.
In my previous report, I had recorded the following financial results:

What must have happened to the value of the Splinterlands assets in my possession in 47 days since my previous report? The time has come for me to find out....
Evaluation of Splinterlands as an Investment
(31 months later)
To evaluate my investment in Splinterlands, I have to compare the total value of costs I've incurred to date with the total value of revenues I've earned to date.
Total Investment Cost
The total cost of my investment on Splinterlands is the result of the following sum:
**Registration Cost (Summoner Spellbook: $10) + Total Cost of Cards and Card Packs Purchased + Total Cost of Tokens Purchased (DEC, SPS, VOUCHER) + Total Cost of Plots Purchased
Note: In calculating the total cost of my investment in Splinterlands I only consider the costs I incurred by injecting external liquidity into the game**.
From April 20, 2022 to the present, I have continued to optimize my card collection by selling cards I used little in battle and buying cards useful in battle. I have also purchased SPS tokens but for all the purchases I have made I have used the gain from the sale of assets I already own (NFT, DEC tokens and SPT tokens) and therefore I have not used and injected external liquidity into the game of Splinterlands. Therefore, the total cost of my investment on Splinteralnds has remained unchanged from 47 days ago: $617.87.
Total Revenue Value = Total Assets Value
The total revenues I got by investing on Splinterlands is the result of the sum of the market value of all the assets I own (NFT and tokens).
The value of my card collection
I have always considered Splinterlands cards to be the most important asset because the basis of Splinterlands is a multiplayer card game in which the cards' battle statistics and the player's skill and strategy in choosing which cards to use in battle are very important elements.
Today, June 6, 2022, my card collection consists of a total of 4433 cards and a total of 13594 BCX.
Counting the number of my cards and calculating the total value of my collection is an easy task to do because there are several third-party tools that do these calculations automatically and make them available to players. I use the **My Cards section of the Peakmonsters site (https://peakmonsters.com/) which provides a lot of useful information such as the value of my card collection which Peakmonster calculates based on two values:
- List Prices
- Market Prices**.
For my report I always consider the lower value and that is the value based on market prices.
As displayed within the My Cards section of Peakmonsters (https://peakmonsters.com/@libertycrypto27/cards) the current value of my card collection is $17828.95 (Market Prices - June 6, 2022).
Compared with 47 days ago, the value of my card collection has increased:

The value of my DEC tokens
DEC (Dark Energy Crystal) tokens are the native tokens of the Splinterlands game, they are second level tokens of the Hive blockchain and are utility tokens because they have so many use cases.
In my In-Game wallet I have a total amount of 97226,289 DEC tokens. In my wallet on Hive Engine/TribalDex I have 436.31 DEC tokens. In the Diesel Pool SWAP.HIVE:DEC I have a total of 26554,895 DEC tokens.
The total amount of DEC tokens in my possession is 124217.49 units (97226.289+436.31+26554.895).
Today, April 20, 2022, 1 DEC token has a value of 0.001938 SWAP.HIVE = $0.001787 and the value of 124217.49 DEC tokens is 133.85$ (Highest Bid on LeoDex/HiveEngine/TribalDex)
Sales of DEC tokens on Hive Engine
Among the revenues I must also record the gain I made on October 5, 2020 from the sale of 81000 DEC tokens that I used to do a Power Up of 400 HP on my beloved Hive.
Today June 6, 2022 400 HIVE tokens have a value of $222.40.
The value of my PLOT tokens
One of the most awaited future implementations for Splinterlands players is the introduction of the Lands mechanism (expected release in Q1 2023). On November 21, 2020, I purchased 3 PLOTS and used DEC tokens as the payment method for the purchase: 7500 DEC per plot.
Today a PLOT token can only be purchased from markets outside Splinterlands (https://tribaldex.com/trade/PLOT) and the current value of a PLOT token is:

Based on the value of the Highest Bid, the three PLOT tokens in my possession have a total value of 1074 SWAP.HIVE = $597.14 (Highest Bid)
Pools: DEC-USBD LP (V2) and SWAP.HIVE:DEC
Before discovering the Diesel Pools on the Hive blockchain I was using the DEC-USBD LP (V2) farm on the DEFI platform created by Leofinance (https://leofinance.io/) which is called CubFinance (https://cubdefi.com/).
Adding liquidity to the DEC-BUSD LP farm earned me: 13,242 CUB tokens (Farm V1) + 3.04 CUB tokens (Farm V2)= **16,282 CUB tokens = 16,282 $0.043 = $0.70.
Today, I use only the Diesel Pool SWAP.HIVE:DEC on https://tribaldex.com/dieselpools/pools in which I have 26554.89 DEC tokens allowing me to have an SPS token airdrop score of 53207 points.
The value of the token Splintershards (SPS)
The airdrop of Splintershards (SPS) tokens is a year-long airdrop with a daily SPS token distribution. There are only 50 days left until the end of the airdrop.
In 315 days I have accumulated a total of 34677,616 SPS tokens whose current dollar value is $2914.59.
My goal is to accumulate an amount of at least 50000 SPS tokens before the end of the airdrop, and to do that I will have to make purchases in the next few days because the amount of SPS tokens I receive each day will not be enough to reach my goal.
Since my last report and in 47 days, I have increased the amount of SPS tokens in my possession by +5942,409 units (+20.68%) but despite this increase in number the total dollar value of SPS tokens in my possession has decreased by a percentage value of -21.79% (-811.99$) from my previous report.
Value of VOUCHER tokens sold and not reinvested and Voucher tokens in Wallet
In the past 47 days I have sold 75.63 VOUCHER tokens. Between February 8, 2022 and May 25, 2022, I sold a total of 187.18 VOUCHER tokens from which I made a total gain of 439.2417 SWAP.HIVE = $244.21
Instead, the total value of the Voucher tokens I have accumulated and not used (20.30 tokens) is 47.59 SWAP.HIVE = $26.46.

I now have all the data needed to calculate the financial results of my investment on Splinterlands (Profit and ROI) over a period of more than 31 months.

Final Considerations
Since my previous report and in the last 47 days, the profit and ROI of my investment on Splinterlands has slightly decreased. This slight decrease was caused/influenced mainly by two factors:
- the decrease in the value of SPS tokens compared to 47 days ago
- the decrease in the value of HIVE tokens compared to 47 days ago.
According to my personal expectation and evaluation (not financial advice) both SPS tokens and HIVE tokens may increase in value in the future.
The value of HIVE is going up as you can see from the following graphs (Source: https://www.coingecko.com/ - 30-day interval).
The current value of SPS tokens is very low compared to the past but in the future the usefulness of SPS tokens will be increasing because many use cases will be introduced and consequently the current value may also increase.
One positive thing that I recorded in my report is the increase in the value of my card collection (+336.29$) which is a sign that I consider very positive. By the way, the value of Splinterlands cards and especially the value of cards that are very useful in battle may increase in the future due to the new Ranked Rewards that were the topic of my previous post on Splinterlands.
In the past week I have read several opinions, both positive and negative, about the new Ranked Rewards. I personally rate the introduction of the new Ranked Rewards very positively because it incentivizes competitiveness and fun among players and rewards the players more
- more skilled in improving their card collection
- more skilled in choosing cards to use in battle
- who play more and at the same time have a good win rate.
After more than 31 months of playing/investing Splinterlands is still my favorite blockchain-based game and I am very satisfied with the financial results I have achieved so far because I have achieved them in the best possible way by playing and having fun!

Una settimana prima di scrivere quel post, il 16 ottobre 2019, mi ero registrato a Splinterlands e avevo comprato lo Starter Set, così si chiamava il Summoner's Spellbook attuale. Dopo una settimana di battaglie e divertimento ho deciso di scrivere il mio primo Splinterlands post in cui mi ponevo la domanda: Splinterlands: Is it a game or an investment? Dopo aver fatto calcoli e previsioni sui possibili guadagni la conclusione a cui ero arrivato e con cui ho concluso il post era la seguente:
Splinterlands è un bellissimo gioco ma è soprattutto un ottimo investimento... Ovviamente non ho la palla di cristallo ma secondo me è un gioco/investimento che può crescere ancora molto.
Dopo quel primo post la mia passione per Splinterlands è cresciuta sempre di più come la mia passione per Hive e come la mia voglia di scrivere e pubblicare contenuti inerenti a Splinterlands Fino ad oggi ho pubblicato molti post con il tag Splinterlands e questo di oggi è il mio post numero 296.

Valutazione di Splinterlands come Investimento

Per valutare il mio investimento su Splinterlands devo confrontare il valore totale dei costi che ho sostenuto fino ad oggi con il valore totale dei ricavi che ho ottenuto fino ad ora.
Costo Totale Investimento
Il costo totale del mio investimento su Splinterlands è dato dalla seguente somma:
**Costo Iscrizione (Summoner Spellbook: 10$) + Costo Totale delle Carte e dei pacchi di carte Acquistati + Costo Totale dei token acquistati (DEC, SPS, VOUCHER) + Costo Totale dei Plots acquistati
Nota: Nel calcolo del costo totale del mio investimento su Splinterlands considero solo i costi che ho sostenuto immettendo liquidità esterna al gioco. Dal 20 aprile 2022 ad oggi ho continuato ad ottimizzare la mia collezione di carte vendendo le carte ho usato poco in battaglia e acquistando carte utili in battaglia. Ho anche acquistato dei token SPS ma per tutti gli acquisti che ho effettuato ho utilizzato il guadagno ottenuto dalla vendita di assets già in mio possesso (NFT, token DEC e token SPT) e di conseguenza non ho utilizzato e immesso liquidità esterna al gioco di Splinterlands. Per questo motivo il costo totale del mio investimento su Splinteralnds è rimasto invariato rispetto a 47 giorni fa: 617.87$**.

Il valore totale dei ricavi che ho ottenuto investendo su Splinterlands è il risultato della somma del valore attuale di mercato di tutti gli assets in mio possesso (NFT e tokens).
Il valore della mia collezione di carte
Ho sempre considerato le carte di Splinterlands l'asset più importante perchè alla base di Splinterlands c'è un gioco di carte multiplayer in cui le statistiche di battaglia delle carte e l'abilità e la strategia del giocatore nello scegliere le carte da utilizzare in battaglia sono elementi molto importanti.
Oggi 6 giugno 2022 la mia collezione di carte è composta da un totale di 4433 carte e un totale di 13594 BCX.
Il conteggio del numero delle mie carte e il calcolo del valore totale della mia collezione è un'operazione semplice da fare perchè ci sono diversi tool di terze parti che effettuano questi calcoli in automatico e li mettono a disposizione dei giocatori. Io utilizzo la sezione **My Cards del sito di Peakmonsters (https://peakmonsters.com/) che fornisce tante informazioni utili come ad esempio il valore della mia collezione di carte che Peakmonster calcola in base a due valori:
- List Prices
- Market Prices**
Per il mio report considero sempre il valore più basso e cioè il valore in base ai prezzi di mercato.
Come visualizzato all'interno della sezione My Cards di Peakmonsters (https://peakmonsters.com/@libertycrypto27/cards) il valore attuale della mia collezione di carte è di 17828.95$ (Prezzi di Mercato - 6 giugno 2022).

Ricavi dalla vendita dei token DEC su Hive Engine
Tra i ricavi devo contabilizzare anche il guadagno che ho ottenuto il 5 ottobre 2020 dalla vendita di 81000 token DEC che ho utilizzato per fare un Power Up di 400 HP sulla mia amata Hive.
Oggi 6 giugno 2022 400 token HIVE hanno un valore di 222.40$.
Il valore dei miei token PLOT
Una delle implementazioni future più attese dai giocatori di Splinterlands è l'introduzione del meccanismo delle Land (rilascio previsto nel Q1 2023). Il 21 novembre 2020 ho acquistato 3 PLOTS e per l'acquisto ho utilizzato i token DEC come metodo di pagamento: 7500 DEC per plot.

L'airdrop dei token Splintershards (SPS) è un airdrop di durata annuale che prevede una distribuzione di token SPS giornaliera. Mancano solo 50 giorni alla fine dell'airdrop.
In 315 giorni ho accumulato un totale di 34677.616 token SPS il cui attuale valore in dollari è di 2914.59$.
Il mio obiettivo è di accumulare un quantitativo di almeno 50000 token SPS prima della fine dell'airdrop e per farlo dovrò effettuare degli acquisti nei prossimi giorni perchè il quantitativo di token SPS che ricevo ogni giorno non sarà sufficiente per raggiungere il mio obiettivo.
Dal mio ultimo report e in 47 giorni ho incrementato il quantitativo di token SPS in mio possesso di +5942.409 unità (+20.68%) ma nonostante questo incremento di numero il valore totale in dollari dei token SPS in mio possesso è diminuito di un valore percentuale di -21.79% (-811.99$) rispetto al mio report precedente.
Valore dei token VOUCHER venduti e non reinvestiti e dei token Voucher nel Wallet
Negli ultimi 47 giorni ho venduto 75.63 token VOUCHER. Tra l'8 febbraio 2022 e il 25 maggio 2022 ho venduto un totale di 187.18 token VOUCHER da cui ho ottenuto un guadagno totale di 439.2417 SWAP.HIVE = 244.21$
Il valore totale dei token Voucher che ho accumulato e non utilizzato (20.30 token) è invece di 47.59 SWAP.HIVE = 26.46$.

Ho adesso tutti i dati necessari per calcolare i risultati finaziari del mio investimento su Splinterlands (Profitto e ROI) in un periodo superiore a 31 mesi.

Il Profitto che ho ottenuto dopo 31 mesi di gioco/investimento è di 21350.44$ (report precedente 22650.84$)

Ad un profitto di 21350.44$ corrisponde un ROI del +3455.49% (ROI report precedente 3565.96%)

Considerazioni Finali
Dal mio precedente report e negli ultimi 47 giorni il profitto e il ROI del mio investimento su Splinterlands sono leggermente diminuiti. Questa leggera diminuzione è stata causata/influenzata principalmente da due fattori:
- la diminuzione del valore dei token SPS rispetto a 47 giorni fa
- la diminuzione del valore dei token HIVE rispetto a 47 giorni fa.
Secondo la mia personale previsione e valutazione (non è un consiglio finanziario) sia i token SPS che i token HIVE potrebbero aumentare il loro valore in futuro.
Il valore di HIVE è in risalita come puoi vedere dai grafici seguenti (Fonte: https://www.coingecko.com/ - intervallo 30 giorni).
Il valore attuale dei token SPS è molto basso rispetto al passato ma in futuro l'utilità dei token SPS sarà crescente perchè saranno introdotti molti casi d'uso e di conseguenza anche l'attuale valore potrebbe aumentare.
Un dato positivo che ho registrato nel mio report è l'aumento del valore della mia collezione di carte (+336.29$) che è un segnale che reputo molto positivo. Tra l'altro il valore delle carte di Splinterlands e soprattutto il valore delle carte molto utili in battaglia potrebbe aumentare in futuro per effetto delle nuove Ranked Rewards che sono state l'argomento del mio precedente post su Splinterlands.
Nella settimana scorsa ho letto diversi pareri, positivi e negativi, sulle nuove Ranked Rewards. Io personalmente valuto molto positivamente l'introduzione delle nuove Ranked Rewards perchè incentivano la competitività e il divertimento tra i giocatori e premiano maggiormente i giocatori:
- più abili a migliorare la propria collezione di carte
- più abili nella scelta delle carte da utilizzare in battaglia
- che giocano di più e allo stesso tempo hanno un buon win rate.
Dopo più di 31 mesi di gioco/investimento Splinterlands è ancora il mio gioco basato su blockchain preferito e sono molto soddisfatto dei risultati finanziari che ho ottenuto fino ad oggi perchè li ho ottenuti nel modo migliore possibile giocando e divertendomi!
